why do most casinos make you download a program to play? just curious...
Because it is hell to make software that runs in browser and also looks nice.
It clearly is possible as WagerWorks has shown, but this is much newer technology compared to what was available 5 years ago so casinos did not have
the option at that time.

Ditto on that. Wagerworks has done an outstanding job with their non-downloadable games. Netentertainment has a few really good slots as well.
When it comes to graphics and bells and whistles, MGS and Crypto pretty much rule. And of course you have to download these. (MGS offers flash versions of some of their games though).
