    Malta license for Microgaming

    MALTA SOFTWARE LICENCE FOR MICROGAMING

Approval opens the way for licensees to join a credible jurisdiction.

The online gambling software developer and turnkey provider Microgaming has been awarded a Class IV online gaming licence for its casino product by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) in Malta.

The license will benefit the software provider’s partners wishing to operate within the European Union. In addition, it will provide those operators considering Microgaming software and wishing to be based in Malta a smoother process - making the move a far easier one. A number of Microgaming operators have already initiated the process of obtaining a Malta licence on the back of Microgaming’s Class IV.

Malta, the first EU member state to regulate remote gaming, offers four classes of remote gaming licence, with applicants undergoing probity checks as part of a wider fit and proper exercise, business and technical assessment and finally a compliance audit.

The Class IV casino license will complement the Class IV licence that Microgaming was awarded for its poker network earlier in the year.

Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever commented: “We are delighted to have been granted a Maltese license for our casino product and look forward to being able to offer our operators this gateway into the EU. The review process involves a rigorous technical assessment and it is always rewarding when your own high standards are recognised by others - more so when it’s a European Union jurisdiction such as Malta.”
