Question for some of the more informed members

So, today I went to try and deposit to one of my favorite casino's only to find that my deposit method - Instadebit - has been pulled. I emailed support and asked if it would be coming back and was told no, and that it was the Canadian banks that chose to have it pulled and not the casino. But, I can still use Instadebit at ClubWorld and many other casinos still have it listed.. I don't believe this casino would lie, so my thought is that all casino's will be pulling it soon and that they were just faster in doing so.

Any thoughts on this? Could this be the end of my online gaming days? If so, it really ticks me off, as it's friggin LEGAL in Canada!!! But, I refuse to use Click2pay as I've read way too many bad things and my other options are limited as I use a no-fee bank account with limited features. I refuse to do the pre-paid crap as I will NOT pay fees that high! I deposit at the most $50 so it's just not worth it.

    Not a happy camper today!

    Any thoughts?

If you want to play at ClubWorld, I would ask them if anything is going on as far as Canadian Instadebit lately. That is wierd. Maybe Instadebit is in trouble (I mean financially) and they are using the casino as an excuse?

This is really getting ugly and I would be apt to bet the farm that Instadebit will no longer be an option for anyone near the US in the near future and maybe even Europe. Something just doesnt jive right to me Jenn, and for the same reasons as you, I am not going to pay fees for prepaid cards when I can still use my debit Visa.

When that option for me disappears, than I guess I won't be gaming as much either. I hope you can find an answer

i'm not a pro in the know, but i use normal visa or moneybookers to deposit. when it comes time to withdraw, 32red, totesport, vc are ones i play regularly who will actually pay withdrawals right back onto my visa (and represents three different software options). everywhere else i withdraw to moneybookers or failing that, by cheque. and it's only gotten to the cheque stage once or twice before. most casinos use moneybookers, what was the reason you don't use that?

i don't frequent many different casinos, and i don't often win an amount warranting a withdrawal, so maybe i don't know as much as i should about available methods, but the ones i use are acceptable for me. and i agree about c2p, i have used them to deposit when visa, moneybookers etc won't work, but i have never tried to withdraw to c2p after all the crap i heard here about their service.

so that's what works for me, a fellow canadian. i also deposit low amounts like $50 or GBP 30. now our dollar is so good, if i ever sign up at a new mg i can use that as my currency and save some exchange fees. as far as fees for playing, i think it costs me $5 every time i deposit with visa, but i just think of that as the cost of the entertainment. and i don't usually withdraw unless i can like quadruple up (except when playing a bonus i'll withdraw soon after wagering is complete), so i don't think of the fees as really hurting what i can win, since i either win big enough to not really be affected by the hit, or i don't cash out anyway.

Yes babs, I too have a really bad feeling about this. I am not impressed. I will probably throw off an email to clubworld later and see if this could happen there too.

happy, I don't use moneybookers on a regular basis because it's so damn hard to fund it. I don't use credit cards (don't even have one at the moment), and I tried to set my bank account up with them but the info my bank gave me doesn't match with what they want and I just don't care enough to try and get it figured out (the routing number was shorter than moneybookers says it should be). I use moneybookers for withdraws when I can as then I can play wherever I want whereas with Instadebit it's limited as not too many reputable places take it. I have $100 in my moneybookers at the moment, I guess once that's gone and the casino's all pull Instadebit I'm done.

ah yes. i never fund it either. if i win somewhere off a credit card deposit and it's not at the ones i mentioned that pays back to the card, then i withdraw to moneybookers, and can use that to play off of or withdraw it (pina says there's a way to get a cheque with $5 fee versus the $18 eft option). i can use my visa to deposit practically everywhere i've tried it, and failing that i use mb if it's funded or try using my credit card through c2p.

i've had issues with routing numbers too, i think maybe you include the five-digit transit code plus a dash plus three-digit bank number, for a nine-character routing number. sound plausible? i have gotten the swift code and gotten an eft from will hill after a visa deposit (used to pay back to my card i believe until some months ago).

i would recommend getting a credit card. i don't like the idea of debt, but that's how the world works. and a credit card is a good cash substitute. in some instances, as with electronics, you can get an extra year warranty on items you purcahse with it. my limit is only 500, so it gives me the versatility sometimes required to shop/deposit online etc, and gives me a sort of budget for my gambling too.

I doubt I will ever go the credit card route.. I have seen my parents try to dig themselves out of debt thanks to credit cards for most of my life, and I vowed early on not to get one unless absolutely necessary. Gambling online is fun, but not necessary. Not when I have a casino 20 minutes away. Sucks, but I guess that's life. For now I'll just keep deposting at clubworld until they pull the plug on Instadebit as well.

Believe me, I am pissed off... it ticks me off to no end to be told I CAN'T do something, that is completely LEGAL where I live, just because someone (my bank, whoever) decided it isn't a good idea for me to do it.. Free world my friggin' ass. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops, it's legal here, it should be EASY.

I don't understand it either, I really don't... People keep saying it's because the banks and online wallets know something we don't... I don't necessarily believe that, nor do I care. These people need to catch a clue, America and Canada are SEPERATE countries. I have my own laws to follow, why the hell should I also be bound by the laws of another country when I'm not even in it.

*sighs*... I need a new hobby now I guess.

    RE

I have my own opinion on this, that may be farfetched, but mabey not.

I see the government pushing torwards an Amercain Union, where Canada, Mexico, and USA, will be the American Union. The laws I see them passing, the allowing of illegal imigrants to get drivers liscense, the Canadian dollar and the US are about equal now. Get all the immagrants in here, sending there money to Mexico, drive up thier Peso, soon financialy we are already there.

So what one country does, the other does. They also want to keep our money here to help the government pay off the debt they caused by the falling of the real estate market, among other things. If you look at whats going on not just in gambling, but in foreign trade, you will see it. Everyone is dumping the dollar all over the world. I could go on and on, but dont want to bore you and derail, lol

Its only going to get worse, not better. Unless USA legalizes and regulates, I think we are seeing the end of the end when it comes to online gambling here, and the begining of the end for Canada.

Just a little update on this subject... I am still able to use Instadebit at Clubworld, Belle Rock casino's, and a few others which I don't play at much. Obviously, if it were true that the banks were stopping the use of Instadebit, as I was told in an email, operations would have ceased across the casino's by now. Somehow I feel my previous loyalty to the group that told me this has been misguided. I'm sure they won't miss my $100 a week, afterall I'm just a low roller who will never make them rich. I just don't understand why they'd lie - a simple, "we made the decision to get rid of that payment option" would have done the trick.

At any rate, for the time being all is well in Instadebit land.
