I think it's normal. But how would you like to receive players logs?
CSV is the most universal format. It can be imported into MS Works, which comes bundled with pretty much any Windows PC. Excel is business software, and although better, does not tend to be supplied with home PCs, but comes as part of MS Office, which isn't cheap!
I suspect there are conversion programmes around that can convert Excel files into other formats. It may even be possible to make sense of it with later versions of MS Works. Try opening it with the MS Works spreadsheet program.
CSV = Comma Separated Variables - the data might look like this:- (depends on how the casino structures it)
21,20,win,10.00
bust,19,lose,0.0
Empty Fruities Astern Capt'n
Back to port for unloading.
Full Sails - before we get raided ourselves.
There is also OpenOffice, which is open source and free and will do the same sort of things as M$ Office.
