    question regarding video poker

Does anyone know if the double down game is an entirely different game or would that be your next poker hand? I was watching someone play at a casino the other day and when she went to double down she got a Jack and then she picked her card that happen to be a jack and then they show you the rest of the cards and there were two more jacks. So I was thinking if she didn't double down would that have been her next video poker hand for a four of a kind? Also I don't play double down but she was doing really well with it four times she was rolling it over and was making alot of money...is it recommended?

    Wrong, wrong and wrong.

Double starts a new game (new deck). And picking another card would only matter if it was picked in the exact same split-second. The face down card are first determined when the card picked reach the server and then the RNG times populate the cards.

It is the same in B&M casinos. All that matters is pressing the spin/deal button at the right time.

But it was not always like this, at some time the card was actually predetermined and opened up for several exploits.

If they were stored on the server in the memory somewhere, it could be exploited.

I might add that if it was a MG casino. win/loose/tie are determined when you press the DOUBLE button. When picking a card it will show a win/loose/tie card.
We know this because in the EZbonus system, you could see you new balance
BEFORE picking a card. Needless to say I am not fancy this way MG does it.

    hmmmm...

Wow, I didn't hear about this feature (I mean seeing new balance BEFORE picking a card). And I have one question:

I played some hands, won smthng and selected DOUBLE. Now I can see my new balance (I won or I didn't).
    1. If I see that I will win - that's OK.
    2. If I see that I will lose - what happening if I close the game module and reopen it again? I will save my OLD balance, or I will lose money in any case?
Cause if I can relogin every time I see I will lose ant save my money by this way - I can only be a winner every time!

No. When pressing the double, you 'new balance' is already set.

It was when the EZbonus system was introduced that we saw what was
really happening. MG fixed this by changing the way EZbonus was shown, but behind the hood, it is still working the same way. Maybe vinylweatherman can give some more details of the bug and the patch that 'fix' it.

By closing the casino before picking a card and then open the casino again, my guess is that you will see your new balance even though you have not picked a card.

It is interesting that when doubling on slots (where you also can pick a suit for *4) is actually not 'cheating', it is first determined when you actually pick one of the symbols.

In MG, if you select "double", but leave the game module before picking, you always used to lose. Then came EZBonus, which revealed how the game really worked.
Slots are different, if you leave the slot after the spin, but have the gamble option switched on, you can still gamble the slot win at a later date by reentering the game.
Sadly, the obvious exploit (given MG's past record) is not present, and one cannot mess with the casino's "brain" a la Hype*

Tested for exploit "negative casino balance leading to possibility of infinite play in real account, potential to Martingale with imaginary money but win real money if successful, and get account locked if not.
I tested for this after reading the MiniVegas rep mention "illegitimate play" with regard to a player who had taken NO bonus, yet had somehow still "abused" the generosity of the casino by playing SLOTS, and had winnings seized.
I STILL don't know what happened here in the no bonus case, but maybe it was just BS from the rep to cover someone's ass for catching innocents up in the bannings & voidings.
The root of this kind of exploit is bad programming, evident in UK Fruit Machines, and in this case would be where a test for a bet greater than available funds did not consider the possibilty of an initial negative balance generated by another event.
If you enter the slot, and the current balance is less than the original win, any attempt to complete the gamble offered fails due to NSF in the casino account, just as would happen if you tried to place a single wager that exceeded the casino balance.
The "patch" simply prevents the credit display from responding to moving the mouse over it while a game is loaded.
Thinking about this though, there is another test I might try in fun mode now that a view has been expressed that the slot gamble is determined when revealing the chosen suit or colour, and not when initially choosing to gamble.

I tried what I think you were thinking of:

    • I started with a balance of $5.00 in Harveys, and bet the $5 on a single spin
    • I won $4 from that spin
    • I clicked the Gamble button, the pick a color/suit screen appeared
    • I left the game and played the $4 on a hand of blackjack, and lost
    • I went back to Harveys; the winning spin was there and not the gamble screen
    • I clicked the Gamble button again
    • I selected a color, and a message box appeared saying that I didn't have enough credits to place that bet

But now I suppose you are going to tell me that this wasn't what you were thinking of? (It probably wasn't, it seems too obvious)

Also, clicking Collect afterwards (when I already had a $0 balance) didn't increase my balance by $4 again.
