Huge Keno payout difference between MG and RTG ?

Anyone can explain that huge difference ? Look at the screenshot below, on the left a MG casino, on the right a RTG. That's is some MASSIVE difference, in this example both with 15 numbers selected.

Geez why is the picture so small ? Anyway you can see it much better here : http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/1417/bigdifnt3.jpg

The expected number of matches out of 15 numbers is 3.75. RTG does not pay out on anything between 1 and 6, which are the most likely outcomes, therefore it can pay a lot more on the very unlikely outcomes. According to the Wizard of Odds, MG has a much lower house edge. The other difference between MG and RTG keno is that if you play at 32Red you will get paid, whereas a great number of RTG casinos will try every trick in the book not to pay you if you are lucky enough to win big.

Yeah they have diferent levels of variance. Some stack it at the high end, while others prefer to more evenly spread it around. The latter means you get a longer game, but don't get quite the big wins.

The best Keno for expected returns is Microgaming. The best Keno is at Wagerworks casinos if you want high variance (bigger wins, less often). The Wagerworks keno is the most playable too IMO. Put it on turbo and it flies

I recently analyzed the MG paytables. Here are the theoretical return percentages based on the number of spots you choose to play:

    01: 75.0000000000%
    02: 92.0886075949%
    03: 93.0379746835%
    04: 93.7884899910%
    05: 93.8736896015%
    06: 93.7864666979%
    07: 94.1519394051%
    08: 92.8955110800%
    09: 93.4337928438%
    10: 94.5396970840%
    11: 93.1007779114%
    12: 94.2213252294%
    13: 94.9039360146%
    14: 94.2711011573%
    15: 94.3858765862%

Playing 13 numbers (at Microgaming casinos) gives you the highest theoretical return.

I was going to accuse Simmo! of having been hitting the sauce!

And I love the quote about the earthquake!

Different softwares use different keno payouts. I have a table comparing the payout of MG, RTG, and others at http://www.beatingbonuses.com/keno.htm . MG pays out up to 94.90%. RTG pays out up to 86.75%. The highest payout I am aware of (either online or offline) is Net Ent Jungle Keno at 96.28%. Note that variance varies greatly between softwares, as well as overall payout.

I agree with you on all 15 values. It is good to get a confirmation of these numbers, as Wizard of Odds list different returns for some of them, likely because MG has changed their payout tables since the time of review.

Interesting, he does show higher payouts. They must have restructured their paytables quite some time ago. I see that 13 spots was still the best choice back then too.
