i must be 12 down since HAPPYGOBROKEY = 13 letters and that is the only answer of that length i could find. i'm flattered you think so highly of me. and double flattered i even made the crossword. i couldn't really make out the numbers so i didn't try to solve it. i used to own at doing these crosswords as review for school subjects back in grade school. everyone came to me to get the toughest words. off now for a shave and haircut, the $0 self-service version. i just shave my head so it's not like there's any skill involved, apart from making sure to get those little buggers at the back of the neck that seem to face the wrong way and never get cut...
i don't wanna jinx it before i even start, not after an earcut innit! later yall, speaking of yall, did yall see dr phil recently he painted this skinhead racist black and sent him to the hood and the hills, and forced him to have tea with black ladies from three generations. once he spent time interacting with and experiencing black people, he saw how dumb his racist views were. that's the key, getting to know. no matter what someone's colour, occupation, religion, upbringing, sexual orientation, style of dress, this has little if anything to do with the person as a person. i might chuckle inwardly when a black family came into kfc where i used to work, but i'm sure if i got to know them i would see they like many other things as well and better.
and as for watermelon, it should be offered at kfc since they do sell "picnic meals", and in relation to black people, watermelons are a cultural thing. in africa they are hollowed and used as canteens, and of course the insides make a refreshing meal prior to embarking on the hunt for which the melon canteen is to be used. in an area like georgia where a certain crop is abundant, undoubtedly there is an overemphasis on using that crop. probably africans can be credited for the vodkamelon adaptation as well, by letting the melons ferment or by adding alcohol (as in the modern preparation) purchased from european colonial settlers. i find cultural differences very intriguing, particularly language. for instance when mike031 and mikepipe, native germans, write posts in english and misuse the occasional preposition or whatever. with my knowledge of german i understand why they say something like "i hear nothing to this" and it's neat. and today in the convenience store (again chuckling inwardly) the asian man at the counter sees me paying quarters and dimes (can't go to the bank i am waiting for cheques to clear) and tells me "next time, we take change but it has to be only low, store lule". i laughed at first, he said "no lilly" and wondered what he meant by has to be low. i was going to ask how low, but just smiled and said okay. when i got home i realised he was saying they had to be "only in rolls".
i find stereotypes very interesting, and the view different cultures take of "outworlders". one such instance is in rocky iv when the russian comes over to america and they call him "comrade" mockingly and put on a big show pimping america, and how they accuse the ussr of doping all their athletes (this turned out to be true in the movie, depicted in the training montage). and the movie itself depicts a soviet atrocity (killing creed in the exhibition match, or communism in real life) and america's will to rise above (rocky goes the distance and overcomes the soviet machine). another situation is evidenced in F&F tokyo drift, the japanese word geijin, applied to foreigners that have recently emigrated to japan. that vertical garage in the apartment building is slick. how common are those in the more densely populated areas? here in canada we have tons of room for big asphalt slabs to store our horseless buggies. lil bow wow is still teh lamez0rr though!!eleven!one!! and i think in canada we are very relaxed about racism because we have a long history of accepting refugees and immigrants. one thing i really like that i am hearing more often is referring to a person not by race but nationality. this comes a lot from people in south/central asia wanting to differentiate themselves from their neighbouring rivals. indians and pakistanis want to be clear which they are, and likewise with the various middle eastern nations wanting to be more than just random arabs. it was funny, this one indian girl i worked with, asked if my girlfriend was canadian, and i thought well of course, how am i going to date someone in another country, but of course she meant does she have roots here (and thus is she WASP basically).
anyhow, i digress. maybe i'm a touch upset that a member gave me negative rep points about a post i made that was mildly racist, but in a light-hearted sense and also claiming within the same post how i feel about racism, and of course this was in the wild cards section. and the comment added to the rep minus was "just not funny". surely that's a slight abuse of rep points. a thank for a good joke is obviously cool, but knocking someone because of your opinion of their joke? the member is well established here, so i don't dispute it, but i just think it's a bit harsh to take considering i meant no ill intent with my words. i didn't even drop the n- or c-bomb!
back on point, thanks for including me in the crossword, and i do like to ponder many random and trivial subjects, and take in knowledge on various topics. one day i think i should try out for jeopardy. it's just those american-oriented questions that will get me, things you guys learn in grade school. i saw a kid like 5 years old on dave letterman or something who could name any of the presidents by seeing their picture and tell you which president they were ordinally (1st, 40th, not their terms of office though). anyone before kennedy would stump me except the easy ones like lincoln. even washington and jefferson all have those wigs and look the same. i digress again. that's all for now, good day. off to barber and hopefully not butcher meself. cheers
