Using WiFi hotspots for gambling can have consequences....

Police in Penang, Malaysia busted a factory manager and two engineers taking a coffee break at the E-Gate complex....and using the free WiFi facilities to do a little online gambling and sportsbetting while they relaxed.

The trio, aged between 30 and 32, were picked up in a late afternoon police raid at the outlet, conducted after police received a tip-off.

"We received information that the outlet was crowded with people abusing the free Wifi access to conduct online gambling activities," said a police source. "Many of the patrons just grabbed their laptops and ran when they spotted the raiding party," the source said, adding that the owner of the establishment was warned not to let patrons use the free Internet service for illegal activities.

The fate of the three men was not known as we went to press.

So they'll arrest the men doing it, but not the person that made it possible? I thought the USA was bad...

Great to see the Goverments and Police of other countries are concentrating their resources on arresting the real villains just like here in the UK.
I for one am sick to death of old ladies not paying their council tax and motorists travelling at 32mph in 30mph zones and people playing blackjack in their own homes.
At least now maybe the muggers murderers and rapists can go about their business without the fear of being harassed.

If the USA really wanted a fight that had a good cause, they would head over to Africa....The story below makes me sick. It's not all that different than the BS that's going on in Iraq right now, and makes more sense to stop what's happening.

Oh my this is so dreadful. It just pains me to my soul to read stories like this. It really is hard to digest just how different our lives are from those childrens lives simply by location of birth. It makes my minor little whiny inconveniences seem so trite. We must do more!

LOL "Africa is a jungle" - that's one hell of a generalisation for a major and diverse continent. It's kinda like saying that America is all desert!

I lived in Butterworth, the mainland opposite Penang, for 9 years when I was with the RAAF. I do not envy the guys having to spend ANY time whatsover in a Penang gaol. I've seen it, but not as a guest of the Yang Dipertuan Agung!

Some penalties in Malaysia include being hit with a 15' length of cane, as well as the sorts of penalties our western judicial systems hand down.

i meant it figuratively, like "it's a jungle out there". the fact that africa actually contains jungle terrain was supposed to make it humourous. i'll try harder next time.
