Cool US Player (newbie) Needs your advice!!

Hi everyone! I just found this site and I absolutely love it! I especially love looking at everyone’s big wins!
But let me get to the point, not only do I live in the US, but in NY which is one of those dreaded states where online gambling in very illegal.
With that said..I need some loop holes!
I use to use Neteller for depositing but obviously that’s gone, I have tried CC but they don’t work.. SO I have read these boards that say maybe Ecocard is my best bet but I’m looking to the opinion of my fellow friends here on what are my best options?
Also I am a big fan of the migrogaming casinos, are any of them a bit better for me (being in NY). I have signed on to a couple of sites where they read my IP address and I am booted off there site. ( They don’t want me at all)

Thanks to all for the replies!!

    Welcome Aainsjen

This is a bit of a catch22...if there is an answer, and anyone posts it, then it's out in the open and probably won't last long. And if they don't you can't play. And supposing you are from the DoJ masquerading as a player - LOL. Tricky

The official line might normally be that you are in a state where online gambling is illegal. However, I'm not sure that is actually true in NY - it seems to be covered by the 1961 wire act which is as grey as a winter's day when it comes to gambling online.

    That doesn't help does it?

Intertops is your only MG option. And probably Western Union being your only deposit method.... with a $200.00 minimum and $22.00 fee.

    Hi Aainsjen -

There are quite a few casinos that are still considered 'fair players' that cater to US players. That list shrinks substantially for states like NY (as you're obviously finding out). That kind of leads you into the mouths of the sharks, those casinos which are NOT trusted. You are really putting yourself at risk if you get desperate for a place to deposit. I'd recommend you play for fun, and there are plenty of casinos that allow for this (especially for US players).

There have been reports that EcoCard is working, but as with anything else in this climate, is subject to change at any time without warning.

Really, there's not much problem finding a way to get a deposit to a casino. The problems are getting cashouts. If you don't mind waiting through huge transitional periods, almost all of the reputable casinos will -eventually- get your cashout to you. If you don't have the patience of a saint, I'd again recommend you sit this out. Good luck, and welcome to the forums!

    - Keith

    Angry NY Gambling laws

Unfortunately, or luckily it is not as 'grey' as it seems to be:

    New York Consolidated Laws
    Sec. 5-401.

Illegal wagers, bets and stakes. All wagers, bets or stakes, made to depend upon any race, or upon any gaming by lot or chance, or upon any lot, chance, casualty, or unknown or contingent event whatever, shall be unlawful.

Sec 225.00 Gambling offenses; definitions of terms.

The following definitions are applicable to this:

    1. "Contest of chance" means any contest, game, gaming scheme or gaming device in which the outcome depends in a material degree upon an element of chance, notwithstanding that skill of the contestants may also be a factor therein.

    2. "Gambling" A person engages in gambling when he stakes or risks something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance or a future contingent event not under his control or influence, upon an agreement or understanding that he will receive something of value in the event of a certain outcome.

    3. "Player" means a person who engages in any form of gambling solely as a contestant or bettor, without receiving or becoming entitled to receive any profit therefrom other than personal gambling winnings, and without otherwise rendering any material assistance to the establishment, conduct or operation of the particular gambling activity.

(Some people might not appreciate the following lines of text

When you think about it, Driving too fast is illegal as well.. Heck, in some states it is illegal to even dance after two at night! And, also in NY! (Even in your own home.)

This is a quote out of a ruling by the NY Surpreme court:

The state Supreme Court's Appellate Division ruled 5-0 that the city's Cabaret Law, which was enacted in the Prohibition era and prohibits social or recreational dancing in all but specially licensed venues, is constitutional.

The Gotham West Coast Swing Club and several people filed a lawsuit complaining that because the city's 80-year-old Cabaret Law barred them from dancing with other people, it illegally infringed on their right of free expression.

The plaintiffs also contended that the city's application of zoning laws was arbitrary and capricious and deprived them of due process. They said they should be allowed to dance in any bar or restaurant they want to.

The appeals court disagreed, saying, "Recreational dancing is not a form of expression protected by the federal or state constitutions.''
Millions of people still decide to dance and drive too fast on a daily basis..

Please do not get me wrong, I am not saying you should go and break any law.. What I am saying is that there must be ways around this if you wanted to. And, that it is to your own responsibility.

I know it would be the most ethical way to tell you that you should not dance to fast, drive after two at night and not to gamble online since it is illegal where you live. Or was it the other way??

I live in Europe now, and am Eager to help any American to continue with gambling online if they feel like it, whatever way possible

    Its illegal.

Move out of the United States and give up your US citizenship if you want to gamble online legally.

    or

You and your friends at the DOJ could start voting out of office all the politicos that have made this great past time activity illegal.

And, dance at home after certain hours..

But, hey, it is ok to legally buy and own any leathal weapon you can find! Guns are fine in some parts of the USA as long as you do not dance and gamble.

Well, Gambling is ok, as long as it is organized by the State. So, one could conclude that all is well as long as the State profits from it.

I call it discrimination and a whole lot more nasty words. But justice or common sense does not come to my mind.

Hey, in my state it's still not legal to hang a man with a wooden leg... they have to use a rope

On the dire side there are still many puritanical victorian laws on the books, like blue sundays, etc. (illegal to buy or sell on sunday) and any sex act not intended for procreation is a felony... but there are no state laws here against gambling; city codes and county ordinances only. And frankly I wouldn't care if there were. It ain't nobody's bidness but my own.
