    Winner Screenshots Thread +/- EV

    Probably my favourite forum thread on the internet, I look at it 2, 3, 4, 10x a day everyday. I love to see big wins, its a good feeling to know that some people are winning on the same games that cleaned you out the night before.

    I also think the casinos love this thread too. Just to know a game pays out a huge amount often is enough to make me want to have a go. Especially when its a game I haven't seen before. How many of you do the same and end up busting out waiting for that elusive win?

    I just wondered what the majority of casinomeister land thought? + or - EV?

    I don't look. Well... ok... I sneak a peek a couple of times a month -- maybe. I find it depressing -- especially since I haven't played in more than 2 months. But I think the casinos love it!
    Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
    The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.

    Okay! Dumb gambler here, but I think it's time to ask what EV is? I've been seeing it posted here for years and never asked. So tell me!

    EV = Expected Value

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expected_value

    Simplified if you take a slot return of 94% that would be your long term EV. Of course this is negative, in the short term this can vary wildly in the long term your EV should average out to what is expected of the return of the game. Video Poker is probably the best game to guarentee over the long run you get your EV a slot only has to pay one player a big win to hit its % return whereas the nature of video poker played long enough every player will get their 90+% back. Full Pay deuces for eg has a return of 100.7% making it a positive game. In the long run you could earn a living playing this game should you play perfect mathematical stratergy

    the best as regards "games of chance" at least

    Anyway, there is no doubt that thread gets more people playing so yes the casinos love it I'm sure. The question should be, does it make you more reckless in your pursuit of a big win? Conversely, does the Sucks thread temper your gambling? Probably not in my case Either way I love that thread.

    I think the Winner's thread is the highlight of this forum! For me, it gives me a chance to share my winning experiences with other people. I don't think I've ever seen the Winners thread as active as when it was during the first couple weeks after the release of the Golden Goose games. Huge wins posted daily by numerous players, but then something changed with that game. I think I'll start a thread to get some theories as to how a random game of reels can be set to pay out differently.

    I read the Winning Screenshot thread every day I love to see large wins! I love to get them too.... so as soon as I do.. I'll post!

    I think it just give us all hope that we will hit it bigtime. I am sure the casinos benefit somewhat as well. I have never played recklessly due to the thread, though. I always keep my same methods of madness.
