    Lasseters switches to Orbis Openbet

THE SPECULATION WAS RIGHT ON - LASSETERS NOW POWERED BY ORBIS OPENBET

ICE show rumour becomes fact with Lasseters announcement

One of the most discussed rumours at the recent International Casino Exhibition in London was that the highly respected and Australian government-regulated online casino Lasseters was about to change to a new software platform (see previous InfoPowa reports) which would come from the UK.

This week Lasseters Corporation confirmed that the change had taken place and that play was now available on the new software, strengthening the international competitiveness of the Lasseter gaming sites and allowing players to personalise their gaming experience.

Lasseters m.d. Peter Bridge said the introduction of the Orbis OpenBet platform offers the advantage of multi-lingual and multi-currency functionality as well as additional gaming features enabling players to choose the speed, sound and resolution of their games.

"The convergence of technology and expanding range of gaming options mean players are really in the power position of dictating what they want from a gaming provider," Bridge said.

"We have listened to player feedback and upgraded the Lasseters site to appeal more to their interests and encourage higher rates of retention. The multi-currency functionality is also a key requirement in expanding our penetration of non-English speaking, and specifically, non-US markets."

Lasseters ceased offering services in its major market, the USA, in October 2006 after Congress passed a Bill making online gaming unlawful in that country.

Bridge said that even before the USA market was closed, Lasseters had conducted a review of gaming software, including the existing FIRE system, to seek a platform which would provide the greatest advantages in non-English speaking markets.

The OpenBet platform developed by UK-based software supplier Orbis Technology Ltd.,was selected both for its player and operational functionality. The OpenBet Casino module includes sophisticated back office reporting and analysis tools, full mutli-currency and multi-lingual functionality and a suite of games featuring superior animations and graphics creating an enticing player experience.

The currencies offered are Euro, British Pounds and United States Dollars.

Multilingual functionality will be offered later this month and the initial languages supported are English, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, and French.

With this new system, Lasseters.com.au becomes a portal for entry into the suite of gaming products. Players register once and then choose their games, language and currency.

Lasseters Casino and Lasseters Euro are now integrated on the Orbis system. The soon to be launched Lasseters Sports will run on different software linked to the gaming operating system. The AusVegas casino continues to operate on the FIRE operating platform.

A total of [51] games are now offered including 23 new Orbis OpenBet Casino games and the most successful bespoke Lasseters games. These include slots, table games and video poker as well as new variations in a 'Games Vault' providing more features, games and free entertainment in line with player demand.

While the site offers players a familiar 'look and feel', there are new menu options which help personalise the gaming experience. These are options around the speed of gaming, the sound and quality of screen resolution. These options have been added in response to player feedback to help enhance the entertainment experience.
