    Shark Casino

I tried to login to my old Shark Casino account and it said that I was not allowed. Before everyone starts in about Shark Casino I was just going to practice mode to play around. I would not put a dime of real money in this casino. Anyways, their live help said the following when I questioned why my account was locked out:

you: I can't log into the casino can you let me know why
    you: My username is *******
francy: your account have been deactivated due to a management order because canadian government dont allow canadian players gamble.
francy: we basically are following directions from management
francy: so far that is what they have told
I have not been playing a lot lately and have just recently started getting back into it. Is this happening at other casinos, similar to what is happeneing in the U.S.? I did not think the Canadian governement had passed any laws regarding this.

i would take the broken english as a hint they have no clue what they're talking about. you know our government better than that, granted it's harper, but still these anti-gaming laws are preposterous and canada wouldn't do it. no way.

lol... no there is no law against online gaming in Canada. Perhaps Shark's customer service needs to be educated that the United States and Canada are separate countries.

i am quite sure, the management is referring to a speech, the queen had held in 1943, in which she said that all members of the commonwealth should be protected against attacks - i think, she meant shark attacks, what else?

And so shark is wise enough, to protect players from getting lost at their place.

lol, agreed - anyone who does their research, even half assed research, should have enough sense to stay away. However, the original poster did say they only play for free - so luckily in their case it's not the issue at hand.

I believe Shark closed all Canadian accounts sometime in the fall. I also believe this is because Shark is run, partly, from offices in Canada.

Similar to the reasons Bodog does not allow Canadians.

i have read quite a few articles on the subject of online gambling being legal or illegal in canada, some articles say it is, some say it isnt, one says its in a grey area. while im not from canada i do have friends who live and canada and gamble online and they themselves have no idea if its legal or not
at the risk of sounding stupid...can someone confirm where canada stands on this?

    Canada

If it is not illegal, why is it that casinos with staff in Canada are banning Canadian players.

As well as BoDog, we have VIP.com announcing that ALL Canadian accounts are to be closed, BUT they are still happy to accept existing US players, and they have sports wagering on offer, which is the one thing that is generally accepted to be illegal in the US, with the "grey area" being casino games and poker.

You Canadians are certainly lucky to be banned by Shark casino
