What makes this so obviously fraud to me is I don't even know my pin number since I have never used this card at an actual ATM machine. It was used only for online transactions and never required the use of the pin number.
Once I had scanned the card to send when documents were requested I shredded the card. This was so I didn't get it mixed up with the one I use to make purchases at stores and use at ATMs. That one is connected to my joint checking with my husband.
When the person I called just now told me it was fraud it shook me to the core. Damn that is so scarey! I should be hearing from the bank in a few days so should have the final story soon.
Yikes!
I don't want to scare you further, but just to be safe, you may want to get a credit report just to be sure someone hasn't opened new charge accounts in your name.
AnnualCreditReport.com is the official site to help consumers to obtain their free credit report. There is no charge to receive 1 credit report from the 3 major reporting agencies once per year. Please be sure you use the annual credit report site, and not one of the rip off websites that are out there.
Good luck! Let us know how things go.
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
