    Superslots Casino question

    Hiya Guys

Has anyone had problems with Superslots? I don't mean their payouts or games, I mean not being able to play because of the download problems.

I have been playing superslots for some time now but the last 3 times, I can not play some of the games, they just wont download. You are limited to just a few games that work. It's not my PC.....I dont have any problems with other casinos

Its a shame, I like their game choices and always cash out but I just dont have the patience anymore. I have uninstalled and installed SEVERAL times, give up!!

    SuperSlow

Superslots is part of the English Harbour group. I have only tried the software once with Hot Pepper casino, which does not seem part of the group. The software was oddson, but is now Vegas Technology. I get the impression of a split, and that there may be more than one "build" of this software.
I have found Hot Pepper problematic. I did eventually get games to download, but I find the lobby prone to sticking, and needing to use the task manager to abort the casino on a few occasions. I also have trouble with Playtech (all), VIP.com RTG casino (very slow & unresponsive, but other RTG fine).

I have considered these problems and have come up with the following thoughts.

    1) Older PC's with earlier Windows OS versions can no longer handle all the background processing involved in modern casino client applications.

    2) Client lobbies try to access OS components that are not standard in all player's machines - result, they hang or produce errors.

    3) Client applications do not cater for certain types of ISP protocols, resulting in connectivity issues.

    4) Cheap PC's with onboard graphics chips (rather than proper graphics cards), come to a halt due to the strain of the graphics, and possibly resource conflicts.

    5) The casino software has a bug that manifests only when a series of conditions occurr at the same time.

In the case of non-downloading games, it is probably the way the software attempts to manage the process. If bandwidth is limited, processes in the casino compete, and this can bring the whole application to it's knees. This is a common problem with Microgaming casinos, with the updater grabbing all the resources it can, and then not using them with any degree of efficiency - result, games you have won't launch, or play slow; but at the same time the download process just hangs and little gets done.

Ask around to see if there has been a major version upgrade of the Superslots lobby, and have you done something with your PC, such as installed new security software, changed ISP, or even updated parts of the existing software or OS. One Windows update has screwed up ActiveX, and needs to be reversed for any ActiveX applications to work. ActiveX is often used to download and update software from within Internet Explorer, and this bug prevents the Flash player from updating. An old Flash player could even be responsible for trouble with the casino, it brought down Microgaming casinos last year when they suddenly decided only Flash 8 and above would be supported at the same time the Microsoft bug prevented updates from the normal route, the embedded Flash and Yahoo toolbar download site (because Flash is now part of Yahoo in some way, and they wanted to use this as a means to market the toolbar - it was damn hard to track down the method to install the Flash Player from a simple download of the self extracting ZIP file and tunning it from the desktop.
Ask if Superslots do a casino CD, or offer a full install package by downloading an EXE file. This will overcome any problems due to network issues, provided you can still download files to the desktop.

I had one heck of a time getting Hot Pepper installed. After 3 tries, it installed. Then, it would crash/lockup/take the piss when trying to download the games. And the Lobby would lock up. 3 x 3 finger salute and it would finally let me close it. I tried turning off Norton's, I tried fiddling around with my firewall, I tried shutting down all background operations. It didn't matter. After over a week of fiddling around with it an hour or so per day, it got the games downloaded and it now connects and I can log on -- about half the time. I've done everything except stand on my head and whistle Dixie. The lobby still locks up about every other time I fire it up. CS says it's my computer. I gave up on it. More aggravation than it was worth.

It could just as easily be their upgrade server.
