I know I didn't win the jackpots because I did not bet maximum credits per line, but it doesn't specify that the Jackpot Signs have to be in a payline, or that they have to be in consecutive reels starting from the 1st reel...

Yeah i remember a similar thing on an MG slot ages back. Turned out somewhere in tiny text somewhere it stated "all awards pay left to right" and that was that...even though it was a scatter.

Paylines are aligned from left to right. Wins are multiplied by credits per line played and the highest win on each payline pays. Wins on different paylines are added.

So unless otherwise stated it's left to right.
