What are some of the worst tips/hints/adive you're ever received?

    ***

    Hello fellow forum members!

I'd love to know what are some of the worst "tips/hints/advice" you've received with online gaming.

I've included three examples to get the ball-rolling, so here we go!

Huh? I didn't even know that you could slow down the game. I've been playing too fast all this time, and I hadn't realized that it was essentially hurting my chances. Solid advice! 5/5

Here's another winner from the same magazine of GREAT tips!

It's as if I've been playing completely different games. Is there a South Korean version for these MG games? Again, great advice! 4/5

Hmmm, I suppose that there's two ways of looking at this one. For starters here's the first "tip" to playing successfully at slots...

First off, you've got to love that advice in the #5 spot. It makes me feel all giddy inside. Moving on, I want to compare that bit of advice with this bit of advice (excerpt taken from "slotfantasy.com")...

Don’t chain yourself to a cold machine, even if it is your favorite. Why? Because the longer you stay on any slot, the more time the machine’s built-in mathematical advantage has to work you over. This is how casinos build mega-resorts. Time always works on their side, and they have a mathematical edge on every slot.

There are two ways of looking at it. Which way to go?

    ***

I look forward to your responses, and some of the absolute worst tips/hints/advice you've ever received.

    Thank you for your time.

    Steed

LMAO@Steed!! You and me both JS, I never knew that I should be spinning cards while playing a slot machine. Obviously I've been doing it wrong all these years.

The now defunct Atlantic Casino had single deck BJ game which was different from the single deck BJ at other BM casinos because the dealer hit soft H17. I remember that the strategy advice in the casino help included such gems as doubling on 7 vs 3-6, which is not only wrong, but you could only double on 9-11.

Mind you, the game tips at Crypto casinos are not much better. They still recommend that "If your hand adds up to 9, 10 or 11, always Double Down."

    Use the rhythm method.

Oh, damn, you said "online gaming" ... OK, I'll try to think of those, too.
I don't abuse bonuses, I just shake the sh!t out of 'em!

I think my all-time favorite piece of advice (while not directly games-related) is this, which is a staple of the Banking/FAQ section at MG casinos:

Please remember that you don't have to withdraw your winnings at the end of each session. You can leave your casino account with a positive balance, which will automatically be saved in the system and made available to you the next time you log in and play.
No, really? I was SO worried that my money would just disappear - I'm glad I checked the FAQ! It really saved me a lot of time withdrawing, waiting a few days, and then redepositing to play again - thanks for clearing that up!

your so funny Slotsjunkie....No really? I wonder if I could walk away at a real casino, leaving my coins in there and save it for when Im ready to play again!!! LMAO

How the he&& can you slow down on a feature bonus??? It's automatic, hmmm, can you stop the spin and we dont know about it? Or are they just a bunch of jackasses

The worst advice I personally feel out there is always play max allowed (with the exception of progressive) Unless.....sometimes I play just 2 knowing I wont win progressive, but it often gives you a lot of little ones (but then I get pizzed at myself and say "if i'd only play the max) LMAO, you cant win !

    Good thread! THanks

Yes thats true. Reminds me of a recent promo I saw, I forget where: "Bet Max To Win More!". Ah...so that's how it works Funny, but they never say "Bet Min To Lose Less"

The only thing I can think of is adjusting the QuickSpin setting. I always turn it off once I get some free spins.

And on top of that, you can make the reels spin really slow if you press the Alt button from within the casino software. Press it again (or click anywhere on the game window) to toggle it back to normal.

If the statement you posted above is true, then slotfantasy = rigged. Didn't anyone else catch this? Each spin should generate a different seed. On a truely RANDOM game, each spin is independant of the other(s). In theory, you could hit 5 jackpots in a row, and although very very very very unlikely, it'd still be a random event.

edit: oops, just looked at the site...thought it was a casino at first...

But either way, the advice they're giving is for a rigged machine, nevertheless.

Don’t chain yourself to a cold machine, even if it is your favorite. Why? Because the longer you stay on any slot, the more time the machine’s built-in mathematical advantage has to work you over. This is how casinos build mega-resorts. Time always works on their side, and they have a mathematical edge on every slot.
edit2: oh my god, this article was taken from Casino Gambling Column of Syndicated Gaming Columnist Mark Pilarski. This guy claims:

A recognized authority on casino gambling, Pilarski survived 18 years in the casino trenches, working for seven different casinos. Mark now writes a internationally syndicated gambling column, is a university lecturer, reviewer and contributing editor for numerous gaming periodicals, and is the creator of the best-selling, award-winning audio cassette series on casino gambling, Hooked on Winning.
What a joke...nice credentials, but c'mon....what he described in that excerpt was a rigged game.

    Last edit:
When betting for the dealer (worth at least three separate columns), keep the ratio a reasonable one. I once had a professional baseball player betting three hands at $500 a whack, with just a 50 bet for me, the dealer, every third shuffle. One month earlier he signed a multi-million-dollar, 5-year contract. His initials are. I better not.
This guy IS quite the joker. I've seen it many times before. He has the mentality of "Hey, this guy has millions, I deserve some too, no matter what.", instead of taking what he gets and accepting it. How would he know if this guy was already down about $50,000? Besides, every 3rd shuffle would be often with a 6 deck shoe...even faster at single deck.

I don't know about anyone else, I toke AFTER THE SESSION. If they don't like it, too f'n bad! I'm not going to sit there and toke during a winning streak, only to go on a losing streak and lose it all...therefore letting the dealer MAKE MORE MONEY THAN I DID. If I was up, the dealer deserves a toke, and I'll judge the % accordingly. If they were a sh!tty dealer (attitude wise), they won't get a penny.

Think of it this way. You go into a restaurant. You get crappy service. Would you tip the waitress/waiter?
You order a pizza. The driver arrives an hour later, with a cold pizza. Would you tip them? The only way I would is if they arrived with a HOT pizza. Then I'd tip

Operators: If you don't know what Transparency means, then here you go.....now how about practicing it?

Transparency, as used in the humanities and in a social context more generally, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through. ...
