I have a question that I'd like to get a variety of opinions on:

With all of the problems associated with 'bonus abuse' by players and T&C bull**** from operators, what would you suggest in order to continue rewarding loyal players with added value for their money without using bonuses to do so?

erm send them giant spiders, made of gold, with like 15 lions faces. And the lions are drinking big bottles of coke, except if you look close, its actually molten silver and not coke, and the bottles are really gasoline tubs. Then if you play some more you get sent minature little people in the post, and if you're nice to them they clean the lions teeth and clean up the spiders webs.

Then if you win a jakpot or something, they send you a minature house to put the people in, and they have a min jukebox in the house that plays all your favourite music, and once the little people have cleaned up the spider-lion monster thing they have parties in the house and invite loads of fit women over. But because the fit women are proper size they cant get in the mini house, so they will come round and have sex with you if you like, or do some cleaning or just talk and easy you with your problems.

And maybe they could send cheescake over as well if you win a jackpot, thinking about it thats sensible, the little people and the spider-lion monsters need to eat, and everyone likes cheesecake - well unless they're people who think it's real cheese on the cake and not the delicious desert topping.

Some casinos do this already, Virgin Casinos - being able to "dip" into its other entities can award fly-miles, and merchandise from Virgin Records etc. I don't think they have this together 100% (they're still relatively new to this industry) but they have the resources to revolutionize the "bonus offer."

I know some casinos offer merchandise you can pick with an accumulation of player points, some are listed at Casinomeister, but I can't remember which ones

Funnily enough I went to meet them on Tuesday and discussed this very thing. It's certainly something they are aware of and I think they are accumulating ideas with a longer term view.

Personally, and I know there are two camps here, I'd prefer to receive CD's, short breaks, theatre tickets etc in place of loyalty points. The way Virgin do it is you have the "option" to convert points to cash or use them for other stuff (currently only Air Miles) which is a good way of doing it. Allow the player to choose.

The B&M "comping" system is a good model and I would like to see it used more at online casinos but with definite goals pre-defined. IE: 1000 points = 1 CD etc. As a player you have to have goals IMO and the system of awards by the casino's "discretion", as in some VIP programs, is not really an incentive.

There's not enough thought goes into VIP programs and bonuses from the casino's end. Sure, some do granted, but there is very little "innovation". Casino Action are probably the closest to that: the Instant Neteller being a true sign of an innovative "extra".

Honestly, I don' think there's anything wrong with bonuses, but I'd rather see a monthly cashback based on loyalty and calculated based on the previous month's play. And no wagering requirements, period. A cashback bonus that you can cashout if you like without even playing.

I think that non cash bonuses are the future. This is the way things are in bricks and mortar casinos and I think this will be the way online casino bonuses go as the industry matures.

There is another area in which online casinos could change. Slots are very popular and whilst the payout structures for online slots are often better than the real world they are generally still pretty terrible. It would be quite easy to have some good slot games where the payouts were more akin to 99% and still make a tidy profit from the proceedings. So many of these slots only bonuses do little more than counter the huge edge that the casinos have in these games.

By the way though cheese cake does generally contain REAL cheese (cream cheese).
