CNN to run gambling series next week

    Ok guys... call to arms.

I was watching CNN just now as they reported on the "online gambling bill" - with barely a mention of the Safe Ports Act.

Maggie Lake, the reporter covering the issue, wasn't entirely accurate with her assertion that the lawmakers passed the bill ostensibly to protect the young - that view is very narrow and uninformed.

Nevertheless - it is clear that a raw nerve has been exposed, I did not expect that CNN would run a series on this issue. It was announced just after Maggie Lake's report - and it will start on Monday.

Anyone got anything to say - let them know now. Perhaps you'll be on CNN! LOL...

The first airing of the "Gambling Series" will be at midnight GMT on Monday.

edit -> The show I was watching was "World Business Today" on CNN International - hosted by Todd Benjamin. So obviously I am not certain they will run the gambling series on CNN US - but they OUGHT to be. Nevertheless - you can always try to reach Maggie Lake as she is based in New York (Todd Benjamin is in London).

edit 2 ->As of this hour, the "Online Gambling Bill" is the LEAD story on World Business Today. It's 3:30PM EST.

    Re

Fox news internatinal just ran one. Made me so mad. The title of the story was Internet Gamnling now illegal. They focused on how it effects underage gamblers,....shess, if they kne anything they would know you need ID at almost every casino to make a withdrawl.

They said they expect some court challenges in regards to this and the constitution, and priavcy invasion lawsuits. Said that the pro will still find a way to gamble, but the new gambler will not.

I've played at over 100 gambling sites and only had to supply an ID at less than 10 of those.

In my experience the mainstream media always love a good gambling story - especially if it's a negative issue like underage activity or corrupt gamblers stealing from their companies.

Nevertheless, whenever there is an opportunity to present the other side of the coin or challenge inaccurate or biased statements I believe we should do so.

    Thanks for the heads-up, Spear!

CNN will blow this out of proportion
Only an informed gambler can really make a good arguement against the new bill and I doubt anyone on CNN is an informed gambler.
And its a free country is not that good of an arguement
