    Adjusting % pay-outs on slots

I just read a post that got me thinking so thought I'd fire this up and see where it leads, if anywhere.

Most are aware that RTG slots can have the pay-out %'s altered. Operators have two options either 95% or 97.5% (VP can also be changed as far as I'm aware).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, land based casinos have had the ability to this also and having been doing for as long as I can remember. Hence I don't understand why people get so upset when an online casino does the same thing. Granted pulling a slot down to a 85% pay-out or less gives the house a 15% edge, which on slots is a huge difference.

For VP I really hope they can not change the payout%! Then it would be rigged software. For slots you are right it is similar to landbased.

I do not like this because you do not know what you slot are playing then. If the casino had just set the slot to 80% payout, would you then play it if you know this? I like that "Thunderstruck" is excacly the same no matter where you play it and not a watered down version.

There are also worse rumours that RTG can change payout% for each customer, but I hope this is not true. Then you must agree that this is beginning to smell foul.

And because the software is capable of changing payout% you take a risk of getting cheated (if payout was set to 80% etc) and you never know.

A certain RTG casino send out lots of bonus codes every week but from my experience those slot are more tight than all playtech/MG and other RTG slots I have ever played. So what good is a bonus then? The marked is too dominated by bonuses and this tendency to give higher bonuses but worse slots actually makes this bonus situation worse. And also now it would be really stupid actually to play without a bonus.

I am not taking about INetBet. My money last 3 times longer there and sometimes I even win. And still I never know if they have decided to turn on
    the lose switch.

It seems RTG casinos does not publish the payout% for the slots as MG casinos do. Wonder why...

This is the main reason I do not play slots.

In a B&M casino sometimes there will be a sign over a bank of slots stating 99% payback. On;y one machine in that bank has to have that payback.
Just watch the regulars for a couple of days and you find that machine.

I agree if this was taking place then imo that's dodgy.

As they (rtg) can alter the % pay-outs on slots, even dropping that by 2.5% (house advantage) would have a big impact.

I only play MG casinos now (becuase I trust that they don't fiddle with the software), not saying other casino software is rigged, ok

Interesting point, I wonder too? Anyone got any ideas or reasons why? I'd be interested to know.

    Cheers

PS In regards to my VP sentence, I'm aware the rtg's can change the pay rate for VP. For instance some rtg Double Double Jackpot VP pays 800 for 4Aces, 4Kings with an Ace, where as other only pay 750

They can change the paytable yes (and thereby the payout%). And this is a good idea since
RTG casinos now can compete with each other.

I read your post as they could change payout withing changing the paytable and THAT would be cheating.

I am not terribly upset about it, but it does make me wary of RTG slots and hence they make less money off me compared to MG where I have confidence the game is fair.

There is no consistency in RTG slots between different casinos, and that hurts their slot brands just like lack of consistency would for any business with multiple outlets (restaurants, etc).

Very few RTGs dare publish their overall payout audits.

It really hurts the good RTGs because if I play a slot at one with payouts set to 85% I'll have a bad experience, and then I am much less likely to ever play that game anywhere ever.
