    Microgaming video poker suggestions

Couldn't decide whether to start a new thread or bump an old one ...

I just discovered a couple of things that everyone else has known for months:

    (1) Microgaming now offers a 99.9% VP game (All Aces), but autoplay is disabled.

    (2) Individual casinos have the ability to disable autoplay for all video poker games.

The autoplay capability really ties their hands in terms of what they can offer, so I'm happy to see that there's more flexibility than I realized. This opens the door to additional 99.9% games, and I'd like to offer my suggestions. The Deuces+Joker Wild game has always seemed flawed to me. The pay table is very bottom-heavy, due mainly to the 15-coin flush payout. There's big jackpot potential -- 10,000 coins for 5 wilds, but the hit frequency is only 1 in 130,000 hands, so the game tends to be very boring.

The main problem seems to be the payout for 4 deuces. The game pays only 125 for this hand, versus 1000 or 1250 in regular Deuces Wild, even though it's not any easier to hit. I would increase the 4 deuces payout from 125 to 400, which would increase the overall game return from 99.1% to 99.9%. This would produce a game with a lot of small hits, and both intermediate and ultimate jackpot potential.

I'm a big fan of the 50- and 100-play games, and Deuces+Joker is well-suited to the multi-line format IMO. Even at the penny level, hitting 5 wilds on just one hand pays $100 (or equivalent currency).

One minor problem with 50- and 100-play is that when looking at the outcome, it may not be possible to distinguish between hearts and diamonds, or spades and clubs. Although it usually doesn't matter, this is an ideal situation for a FOUR-COLOR DECK. This should at least be an option on all video poker games.

And although I guess I understand their reasons, I hate having to wait for new game variations every month. Every VP game should be available in 1-, 4-, 10-, 50- or 100-play. I don't even understand why each combination requires a separate download.

Just came across this game as well - I was wondering why it was banned in the Casino Rewards terms and conditions - now I know!

Without Autoplay, it really does not make sense banning it as I doubt many players will extract the full 99.9% out of it. WITH Autoplay, it would be a dangerous game for the casino to allow for bonuses. The variance is large enough to make it far from certain that an individual player will easily extract a bonus from it.
As for Autoplay being disabled, I think it more a case of not being included in the download parameters. So long as the default Viper client can handle Autoplay for a game type, I expect there is no underlying reason why it would be nothing more that flicking the proverbial switch to turn it on for individual games. The danger for casinos is that Autoplay is run on the client PC, not on the casinos server!
The big problem with MG VP is that when Autoplay is not included the pat wins are not even held!

Where/How did you come up with the 99.9% figure? I entered the paytable in Winpoker and I ran a 5-million hand simulation and I actually ended up with a 100.18% payout. That would be a first, a +EV VP machine on the web.

I used the Winpoker Analyze-Game option to calculate the 99.9% return for All Aces. I did double-check, although it's possible I screwed up my entry of the pay table. (My main computer's in pieces at the moment, so I can't try it now.)

I believe I came up with something like 99.912%. I thought it was interesting that they bumped the straight flush payout from 250 to 300, which is something probably not too many people would care about. Seems like they wanted at least 99.9%, but not over 100.0%. Any Micro with a 0.1% loyalty club for VP can now advertise >100% return.

Here is an old post about 'All Aces'. Grandmaster found payout to be 99.92%.
And a few words about some strategy changes.
