    Junkie turned Junkie

until i discovered CASINOMEISTER i was without a doubt a video poker junkie - that was until i came across the winner screenshots thread on here and then suddenly i was converted into a slot junkie (i really had never played a slot until i found this site!! btw, i ust want to make it clear that im not knocking Bryan and his hard work at all, as he does an excellent job here and long may the success continue for him) probably because the screenshots looked so so pretty that i just couldnt resist in joining in and trying to share my big wins with all you guys

but - this is just to let you all know that im gonna give it up for a while, maybe a long while im not sure - but i know i cant keep going on chasing these wins on the slots - its a lot of fun yes and the graphics and sounds are so addictive, but its really taking over my life

so i just wanna say the best of luck to you all - and to all of you that have the gambling under control, try and keep it that way!!! for those that dont - think about what you are doing and remember, you only have 1 chance at this life...!!

lastly i just wanna give KUDOS to:

Casinomeister - as you work so hard to keep this site in order - i will always come back to visit (in secret hehe) - in fact if i come back in about 10 or 20 years time im sure most of you guys will be here anyway - lol

Slotster! - coz you're truly a slots legend on the winner screenshots thread - you really do live up to your username - YOU DA MAN!!!!

JohnSteed - as you are the coolest guy on here and when you make a post i just know its gonna be well worth reading

Pinababy69 - you just sound soooo sweeet

Simmo! - winner of the 'most chilled out' award!!!!!

good luck guys - its been fun sharing my experiences with you and ill be back one day to visit!!!!

That is excellent advice for everyone Cheekymonkey!! This online gaming can really screw you up if you let it. It becomes far too convenient to sit at home and play...and it's not just your finances that suffer. I started playing online when I had my daughter, because I was at home anyway...and your social life definitely changes once you have little ones. But I have to say that since October I have a pretty good handle on it...I only play what I can afford to play and definitely limit myself. I find I enjoy it more also. Playing everyday just becomes more of the same old, same old. I applaud your decision...and wish you the best of luck!!

Pinababy69 - you just sound soooo sweeet
That's only cause you don't know me, lol. Trust me, I can be a bitch on wheels when provoked. But...THANK YOU for the compliment, that is very nice of you to say.

    Cheeky,
    I applaud your decision also
These games are extremely addictive and it's vital to know when you've reached your 'breaking' point and to take *immediate* action.
I have resticted myself a couple of times when I felt I just was losing too much money and losing control of my urges to play.
Let me give some valuable advice, from my own experiences:
Close your casino accounts and deinstall them!! Don't leave them on your PC or you'll see 'em and get tempted.
Then, call the cash provider you use (Neteller, Click2Pay or ???) and ask
them to close your account immediately and permanetly!
It's vital to do these if you make the decision to take an extended break. We're all human and temptation can be strong. In closing up these accounts it'll make it much harder to give in. If you feel like you've been trapped by gambling urges, closing the accounts will feel like a weight off your shoulders.

There is so much beauty in life....in nature, in relationships with family, friends, etc....addictions can distort and distract us from what is truely most important to us. I'll keep you in my prayers that you'll stay strong and if you need to talk, send me a message anytime.

    God Bless!

    Brian

    Cheeky,

I would like to thank you for your honesty. Your post (and the others that followed) have opened my eyes to the time and money I spend at the online casinos and I think it is time to cut back a bit.

    All the best to you.

CheekyM, best of luck to you and i hope that the time (and money) freed up from gambling will be spent on endeavors that will give you lots of satisfaction.

When i started casinos 3 months ago, i used the same motto as i used when playing poker: I don't play with my own money! In early January i had a good week and immediately moved money out of Neteller back to my bank account. I will quit gambling probably when my Neteller acct has totally gone bust. There have been some close calls but i managed to survive so far (knock on wood).

After that good week in January i don't make bigger deposits or make bigger bets but i did make many more deposits and played way more. There was a day when i was hiking with my dog on a beautiful nature trail and the sounds of Tomb Raider were still constantly droning through my head

To have a drink of Scotch a day is fine but to have a bottle a day is a problem. I realized last week that my casino consumption was the equivalent of a bottle. So, i decided to scale back the amount of time i spent on it. If i can limit myself to roughly "one drink" a day then i certainly don't want to deny myself this pleasure.

Today is March 1. We are nearing the end of winter and spring is just around the corner. With it will automatically come the desire to be outdoors more rather than sitting behind the puter clicking on "Spin".

Amen to that Managra. Spring/summer can't come fast enough for me. No way am I gonna be stuck indoors behind a computer...I'm gonna be out in my backyard bbq'ing and enjoying life and my newfound freedom. I have another reason to look forward to the good weather (besides less slots)...but that's my little secret, lol.

I admire the fact that you put your thoughts out there.

Completely understandable, and a great decision. I too went through a prolonged slump that made me put the breaks on. I found that too much of my daily thoughts were about my losses, and how I was going to effectively turn things around. And while I agree 100% that slots are by far the most exciting casino games to play, I happen to think that they're the worst (especially playing catch-up) on the pocket-book. The last quarter of '05, I found that I was only chasing losses. Rough stretch, but it was a great eye-opener. I have yet to make a deposit with my own money in quite some time now. Actually, a large part about why I kept making all those threads a while back, was to get my mind off of the losses. Strangely (one would think) that I would choose to do so at a site which in large part is about online gambling, but it seemed to do the trick. Actually, since I ALWAYS played for a good 5 years (literally every 2nd day), it's nice to have gotten a way for some time now. Similar thoughts as to what BrianC was saying, I had forgotten how important OTHER things were.

While I certainly love the "Winner Screenshots" thread (huge fan like every other forum member), it can certainly be misleading. It's generally the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd thread I'll go to whenever I login to my Casinomeister.com account. But, as everyone knows, what we see posted is just a fragment of the whole picture.

And "cheekymonkey", thank you for your kind words. They really made my day.

if only I was this strong, I always start of with a limit in my mind but once I hit those tables I go on TILT and end up depositing far more than I should.

That's why I only have an account with one casino now, Virgin, it's not the sexist casino but it does offer 'player protection' where you set your own deposit limits, and it works for the last few days when I try to deposit it won't let me and reminds me that I've set limits. I find I have more money in the bank and more time.

Thank you cheekymonkey for this post at least I know I'm not alone and good luck.
