Veteran Microgaming slots players.... what do you think?

New slots every month in 2005! Great graphics and sound! Quality that ranks right up there with land-based video slots.....................BUT!

Have the big payouts been replaced by fluff and stunning eye-candy? Remember the days before the viper software came along and changed everything? You either went broke fast or you made a huge score on the slots. Today it seems as though you are basically being charged for the entertainment factor of these new-fangled slots which throw out pays that are many times less than the intial wager. Of course there's always going to be an occassional big winner. (Slotster) . It could be the fact that I pretty much avoid the "old school" slots like 5-reel drive, Carnival, Gopher Gold, and Treasure Nile. What do you guys think?

Funny you should mention this but i've noticed the same trend Aside from Golden Goose Totem Treasure, the recent slots seem to have fairly limited "big win" potential.

I tried a few but i always end up back on the old faves where you can get hammered but get the adrenaline rush to go with it. 5 Wilds or 5 Scatters paying big wins or 5 Eagles in the Free Spins...just much more fun IMHO.

I actually revisted Secret Admirer this week and had forgotten that that too is in a similar vein. Lots of nothing followed by some very nice wins and a novel (and potentially very profitable) Free Spin feature too.

    Lightbulb Some thoughts...

Great question tim5ny. I guess it's the best (and worst) time to ask that question. I've been sucking lately, in fact, for quite some time at slots. I love them, they're MUCH more fun than BJ or VP, or anything else that I can think of casino-related. There's always the possibility that something major can happen (and we've all seen those BIG HITS), and even most definitely when they first introduce these games.

I've been wondering (especially lately) about how much better the newer slots are. They ARE more interesting to watch, and there are more perks that come with those games, so it's hard going back to the originals.

Today it seems as though you are basically being charged for the entertainment factor of these new-fangled slots which throw out pays that are many times less than the intial wager.

Oh boy, hello MARVEL SLOTS! I know you're talking about MG slots here tim5ny, but those are the worst I can think of that most wins don't cover the wager of the spin. Awful. Just awful.

Of course there's always going to be an occassional big winner.

Something that seems to be eluding me over the past while. I've had some very nice hits, but never a monster one (over the $1,000 range). And it seems that I'm in the thick of a downward spiral of landing fewer and fewer big hits. The longer I play, the worse it's getting (might not be true, but it's the way it's been playing-out for me).

But while they're dead for me at the moment (actually, more than a moment), I'd think that there's more of a rush (with a bigger payout) playing games like Tomb Raider/Mermaids Millions/Thunderstruck/Spring Break as opposed to the games introduced in '05. It's nice to see different graphics, but as Simmo! mentioned, there isn't as much of an "adrenaline rush" for me (not necessarily him) when I play the Golden Goose games and such. I don't play (generally) the slots that are pre-VIPER days.

    Last night .....

I too was wondering this very same thing last night on how Caesars, Cleo, and all the video slot games at Inetbet (and other similar casinos) are paying something awful. I get 4 aces with 3 jacks and a tripler, and the payoff is $1.75 on a $2 bet. Um, whats wrong with this picture??

The bonus rounds are very few and far between, made about $9.00 on 13 free spins at $2 a clip. Most I have gotten out of all these slots in the past month on free spin feature is about $22 on avg of 12 free spins...awful!

I have been in a rut also for the past month (because I love playing these slots at Inetbet) but it seems I finally broke out of my slump at Intercasino the night before hitting the Marvel jackpot (will post screen shot) and that led me up to over $1700 win on a $100 deposit.

Went to Road House Reels last night, and again put in $100 and hit the new animal video slot (forget the name) for over $300 then built it up over $1600.

Time to stay away from those low paying slots, such as Ceasars, Cleo and the rest. I think thats whats eating the bankroll IMHO.

Anyone notice all these update/downloads at Inetbet and similar casinos lately (The ones with Ceasars and Cleo)? It seems the paytable has indeed been changed (once again IMHO) since I was shocked at the payout on a very good hit, or so I thought. Didn't even make enough to cover my bet. Interesting.....

    "Two game designers talking shop:"

" Yeah! We'll give them animated symbols, bright colors, and lots of interesting sounds.... and not 1, but 2 different types of bonus rounds. The payback on most spins will be only a fraction of the wager, but when you add some winning sounds and reduce the credits to a 1 cent denomination, then we can make them feel like they're hitting nice jackpots when in reality it's only a few dollars. (hehe) "

OMG Tim, I'm visualizing two Micro software designers as they have this conversation, lol. And I agree with everything that you guys have said. Not that I have played alot lately, but the bit I have has been dreadful. Lucky if I can get over my original starting amount. I know that last year at this time I had a few nice hits (throughout December), I was hoping that this year would be the same. Still keeping fingers crossed.

I may not be a veteran (playing for about a year) but am noticing quite a difference on slot payouts, can't seem to get ahead at all these days.

Just played Thunderstruck and got nothing on the free spins until I hit a re-trigger on the 8th spin. After that I still got zip (not even 4 cents) until the last two spins and then it was only small pays of two in a row.

Tried INetBet and absolutely no luck there either.

I agree the newer ones don't pay squat unless the bonus round comes along, and sometimes that can't be counted on for a win. Gift Rap at $1.50 per spin and got "stop' on the first gift I opened. Very disappointing

Radical idea- If you think slots are tight, stop playing them. Why carry on playing if you think the casinos are ripping you off?

I guess because of this line that I wrote in the initial post.........

"Of course there's always going to be an occassional big winner."
