Has anyone else noticed that you cannot connect to the Progressive Games?? I recently opened an account and each time I deposited and tried to go to Progressives, an error comes up saying "Cannot connect to server, you may continue to play offline". However, all other games are fine. If it matters, I specifically asked them to NOT issue any match bonuses to my deposits, which they did reply and agree to. But in the 2 weeks after that, I have had the Progressive problem, emailed them twice, to no avail...

acropolis progressives

Just read the thread and thought to try to log in.
You are right, its not possible right now, though days have passed since u wrote.
Generally this may happen from time to time, but when it takes days its strange...
Perhaps Stanley's group has reached a point where their playtech casino is not so profitable so far (sometime now their online support is not available, probably cut the personnel expenses. Emails are answered just fine though) and decided to stop the risk of a jackpot hit ?!
We will see.
Their monthly match bonus is very nice to play just progressives.
Personally I am satisfied from their email support and will keep as a loyal customer.

Acropolis

I noticed the same thing after depositing (10 days ago) and emailed support immediately. I am still awaiting their response.
The sole reason I deposit at Acropolis each month is to play the Wall Street slot and I must say I'm a bit perturbed by the lack of response to my email and the taking away of my monthly Wall Street session.
If I remember correctly Stanley sold Acropolis casino a few months back and unfortunately it's went downhill in many ways (unanswered emails, strange comp payouts, etc.) since then. At least now I know it's not just me.

Heck, I can't even get the Acropolis software to load at all!

The download completes but when I open up the software, it just hangs at the "Create Account" stage.

I've tried uninstalling and installing again a few days later, but no luck.

Guess they don't want my money ...

Ha ha ...

Good one 10card, though Playtech has been known to do that to me at times.

Those times, I've been allowed to set up an account and then locked from it before I could deposit. With Acropolis, I can't even get to the "account setup" page ... it's like the software just gets held up and freezes.

sold?!

The "About us" page on their site shows its Stanleys group.

MacGyver, their automatic bonus system works great. Use the flash casino!

The casinos wouldn't lose a penny over a jackpot hit...it's covered by playtech..

although this is stictly true in the sense that they are not responsible for paying out a jackpot should one hit.

however progressives are less profitable for the casinos in 2 ways, although both amout to the same thing.

a) part of the house edge is used to cover the payment in the jackpot pool, thus less money is returned to play, hence less money for the player to play back and lose to the casino.

b) on the same theme progressive are less EV than other games for the casinos where progressives and bonuses are concerned, because should a player lose his deposit and bonus to the casino, the casino still needs to make a contribution to the jackpot pool to cover the players play. this is even more so of a problem for playtechs who have sticky bonuses as the bonus money is deemed to have never existed to start with.

for these reasons above is why a lot of casinos ban progessives for sign-up bonuses.

Ahhh, I guess if I looked right next to the "Download" button, I would've seen that, huh?

Muchos gracias ...

EDIT: Flash casino doesn't work for me using either IE or Firefox ... Firefox blocks it with the ad-blocker (I think) and IE just freezes trying to load a window titled "Cashier". Both lock-ups happen after I hit the "Create Account" button after hitting "Play for Real Money."

EDITx2: I tried the download software again, and same thing ... no dice (or cards).

Ciao Macgyver,
Before u hit your computer, try the following:
Many new versions of "cashiers" (including Acropolis) run some scripts in order to login. You must allow active-x to run. In the security options of IE, either allow or better prompt before any active-x.
(I am a firefox fun but havent tried flash there yet)

Checked that and active-x was already set to "prompt".

Tried it one more time in IE and I got a prompt (which I allowed) before it would give me the log-in screen where I could click on the "Create Account" button.

Clicked that button and a smaller IE window (entitled "Cashier") pops up, but never fills (again).

Appreciate the help, but short of asking for a CD (playing at this casino isn't that important to me), I don't think I'm gonna get anywhere.

Does anybody know what happens to Acropolis casino??? It is already more than a week that i try to reach them by emails- without any result. Before it never was a problem-immediately after i send an email i would receive an automatic reply and within a one hour there was a reply from the support. Now- there is no not an automatic and not a casino reply. I have sent a lot of emails already. Not only that. I am unable to open cashier at the casino. It seems to be not working. So i am unable to withdraw the funds. What should i do now? What happened to this casino and its support???

Acropolis

The same thing is happening to me. No responses at all to emails, nothing. I have played here for years and something strange is definately going on. Like I said in an earlier post, I'm pretty sure that it hasn't been a Stanley casino for quite a few months but I just can't seem to find the ownership change details. Emails were still going through Stanley last I got a reply, though.

cynthia777

Cynthia,
I've experienced the same problem that you describe on Playtech's Diamond Deal casino. They responded right away and told me I might have too many other windows opened. When I told them I had no other window opened, they did something on their end, and the problem went away...briefly. Now it is back again. It is frustrating. Sometimes you can log back in and it works okay on the progressives. I feel it is a problem on their end though, not yours. Hope this helps.;)

Really strange now...

Thank you all for your feedback/comments about my posting concerning Acropolis Casino. It helps to know that I am not the only one having problems with this.

I sent a private message about this matter to the Acropolis casino operator about a week ago or more, never got a response. Unfortunately at the time I didn't choose the option to let me know that the message had been read/received, replied to or not. So I resent it today, this time, asking for a receipt confirmation. I checked the Casinomeister's list of casino operators, and noticed that Acropolis or Stanley Leisure is not listed there anymore. Unless I'm seeing/not seeing things, I'm wondering now what is going on. Any further word about this? I haven't tried to deposit since then, until I get some/ANY kind of response from then, because I don't want to take chances depositing until this is cleared up.

I am with you, first I will be waiting for the situation to be cleared.
(Pitty that it was one of my favorites casinos and every month I enjoyed their automatic bonus)

What is your source for this?

Can anyone confirm that Acropolis is no longer under Stanley? How accurate are these BetEuro rumours? BetEuro is a high-rated sportsbook.

I cetainly remember reading some time back (before Christams) that Acropolis was bought from Stanley.

Think it was from egaming review magazine but not totally sure, but anyway definitely reported as being bought out. Don't remember exactly who by, but beteuro does ring a bell of sorts.

Link Removed ( Old/Invalid)

At this point, I'm not too convinced a reputable operator like BetEuro would be in charge, since this apparently now bogus information is unchanged. A rogue operator might want to continue riding on Stanley's coat tails as long as they can get away with it, however.

BetEuro is a sportsbook belonging to VIP Management Services (VIP Group), a company acquired by Leisure and Gaming PLC last summer.

Leisure and Gaming PLC last acquisition is Stanley Entertainment, Acropolis operator.

Which is why, Caruso, I mentioned in your Playtech operators list that I'd rather wait and see how L&G is going to deal with that casino and the effects this transition will have on Acropolis. I liked them when they belonged to Stanley.

From Casinomeister News 21 October 2005

STANLEY LEISURE'S ONLINE GAMBLING INTERESTS SOLD

21 October 2005

GBP 1.86 million in cash, and another conditional GBP 280 000 the price

Starting the week with a bang is the news that Leisure and Gaming plc has acquired Stanley Entertainment NV, the online casino business of Stanley Leisure plc, for GBP 1.86 million in cash and a potential deferred payment of a further GBP280,000.

The purchaser will benefit from bigger UK and European revenue streams and an extended customer base for its international business. The acquisition also complements the VIP Group business, which Leisure and Gaming acquired in June 2005.

The agreement calls for a strategic partnership which will see Leisure and Gaming becoming Stanley Leisure's chosen partner for developing their brands and assets online, leveraging Leisure and Gaming's operational and product infrastructure.

Affiliate marketers will be glad to learn that the two companies have signed an affiliate agreement for an initial 12 months in which Stanley Leisure will drive its customers to certain Leisure and Gaming sites including the Acropolis casino business.

The partnership will include a poker offering and a dedicated slots offering. Under the agreement, Leisure and Gaming has committed GBP140,000 as a pre-payment against future affiliate revenues to Stanley Leisure.

Thanks.

So Acropolis haven't been bought by VIP, they've been bought by L & G, who also bought VIP??

Whi is "Leisure And Gaming" anyway? Google doesn't yield much - they don't have a website??

"Leisure & Gaming plc

Company Information

Address: 10th Floor, Bucklersbury House
3 Queen Victoria Street
London
EC4N 8EL"

No names, no phone, no email, no nothing. No web site.

So Acropolis is now operated by a faceless corporation we have absolutely no information on, CS is unresponsive and, FTR, there are now worrying trends emerging in the payments department alla most every other Playtech out there.

This is not looking good.

This scares me a lot. I have a lot of money in my Acropolis account and i have no access to it for 2 weeks already. I am just unable to enter casino Cashier. All my emails are unanswered. That is unbelievable- i always trusted Stanley so i kept some money in the account without withdrawing it all the time.

I found their website. Here it is:

I also found an email there: [email protected]

Oops. I stopped my Google search much too early - sorry if I freaked you out, SK2005.

OK, looks much better. These people are London based, so should make contact pretty straightforward.

However, they do NOT list Acropolis as one of their brands, and the Acropolis site DOES claim they are under Stanley.

I still find this all very odd. I'll call them Monday and see if they can cast any light on the matter.

L&G is not a "faceless corporation" but a well funded and well managed group with Alistair Assheton as CEO - he's a well respected straight arrow in the industry and a very experienced online gambling executive.

L&G also took over English Harbour group for over 12 million recently, and Alistair was quick to intervene with his management team when there were player complaints on a thread elsewhere on this site.

You guys need to check out Casinomeister News more often - all this stuff is in there somewhere.

I hope they are a respectful company but before they took over Stanley it was taking only 1-2 hours to get a response from Acropolis support. Now, it is already two weeks, tons of emails and no any single reply. And this is not a small problem - their cashier just doesn't let me in (i tried from different computers). So my funds are trapped now.

Caruso, i will be thankful to you if you make a call to L&G on Monday and get some more info on this one.

Very glad to hear it. BUT, it throws up a few questions:

1) Why is there no mention of Acropolis on the site? They list the sportsbook, so it's not like they're keeping their gambling ops under wraps.

2) Why is Stanley still listed as the owners of Acropolis? The "about us" page is important, not an afterthough. It should be the first, and in fact pretty much the ONLY, webpage to need updating.

3) Things seem to have taken a downturn: three players have reported no response from CS for up to TWO WEEKS, and I have also not received a reply to an email I sent yesterday. There are also other issues which lead to me believe things have taken a recent remarkable turn for the worse here. Stress on "recent" - the buyout happened last year, and these issues have only recently emerged.

All in all, I'm scratching my head a bit.

AA given a heads up on this - it sounds like teething problems associated with the takeover, but these should have been sorted out by now. Before we start condemning everyone let's see what happens.

Go ahead and contact the London office, too - might as well come at the problem from two angles.

Jetset, condemning the lack of service or simply worrying about it is justified. Sometimes a transition is botched or doesn't go smoothly and problems occur. This transfer shouldn't matter for the players when it is taken over by a legitimate establishment but communication lines shouldn't be closed no matter what. Worst case scenario, there should have been a message on the website stating possible delays due to technical difficulties, or even offering an alternate email/phone number.

Easy for me not to worry, I have no money in that account. But I understand those who have a few thousands in their account and cannot get in touch with CS. Once again, it is not a client's duty to consider internal problems as valid justification for poor service, whether that company is AIM listed or not.

Max

Maxlevine, if you read my post you will see that communication before assuming the negative is exactly my point.

No-one is diminishing the legitimacy of complaints here - I am simply trying to find out why this is happening, and emphasising that a responsible company under an effective chief executive is involved and not some back street, questionable operation.

That very fact is likely to bring about redress.

Done - but I have nothing to report as yet. The fellow to speak to, one Henry Birch, is out the office until next Monday - and Jetset's pal Alistair Asheton is with him, apparently.

I have all contact details and will keep on top of this. That is, assuming Jetset cannot get through to A.A. in the meantime.

Not an especially satisfactory start, I must say.

Thank you for your efforts, Caruso.
So, now one more week to wait? Hmm, very strange assuming that player only wants to get access to his funds. And support is non-existent.

Contact.

Should be progess reports a little earlier than expected.

One way or another, I'm confident that issues here will be resolved satisfactorily.

If you have an issue with Acropolis that I don't already know about and you haven't asked Bryan for help already, could you please drop me an email with name and account details post-haste?

caruso said:

The one issue I was aware of has been resolved favourably. Not heard anything else here or anywhere else recently, so I assume that's case closed as far as payment issues go?

Still need to clarify a few things reflecting on the CS problems, however.

Caruso,

Can you ask your contact why I can't even open an account with Acropolis?

I've tried Firefox and IE, both just freeze me up after I hit the "Create Account" button. It starts to open a window called "Cashier," but then just cycles through until I force it to quit.

I'm not too overly concerned, but I may get a wild hair to try their casino some other day.

Hi Mac!

I checked out the Acropolis site to see if it listed any specific requirements but did not find anything unusual as long as you are not on a Mac.

The small window opening and then the crash leads me to wonder if the cashier function is JAVA based. The "About Us" page says their SW was proprietary before they switched to Playtech. Perhaps integrating the cashier function hit some bugs. Is Java installed and enabled on your PC?

Hey there, suzecat ...

Yeah, I have Java. I just tried the flash casino again in IE and got the same thing ... the window pops up and changes its title to "Cashier", but nothing ever pops up into it. It just stays a white screen.

Download is just as bad, though I haven't tried that recently. Again, not that big of a deal, but I keep trying every once in a while anyway.

Perhaps it is mojo in your favor!

I downloaded, installed, opened an account and deposited today at Acropolis. Lost it all lightning fast!

I'd say the big dealer in the sky is looking out for you (so you can shake some bonuses in other places):)

Still same problems...

Today, for the first time since starting this thread, I re-downloaded and signed into Acropolis. I was able to sign in, both download and flash versions, but still had the same problems when trying to access progressive games on each. I still refuse to make deposits, but luckily I had comp points to convert to cash, just so I could see if anything changed.

On the download version, I got the same exact popup error message that I did about a month ago when trying to play a Progressive game. It read:

"Sorry, there is no response from the gaming server.
You may continue playing in offline mode only.
Please contact Customer Support at [email protected] for immediate assistance.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
"

On the flash version, this message came up:

"Server Busy.

Please try again at a later time. Sorry for the inconvenience
."

The scrolling marquee that usually reads what the Progressive jackpot is up to on each game still reads "$0.00".

To date, I STILL have not gotten any responses to my initial email inquiries.

Upon downloading, their User Agreement still refers to ownership by Stanley Entertainment. Here is the first part of the End-User Agreement that came up for me when I downloaded the casino:

"END-USER AGREEMENT

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND MAKE SURE YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT BETWEEN Stanley Entertainment NV UNDER THE BRAND NAME OF Acropolis Casinos AND YOU. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS ABOUT YOUR RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS RESULTING FROM THE ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT, PLEASE CONSULT A LEGAL ATTORNEY IN YOUR JURISDICTION.

1. DEFINITIONS
The following words and terms, when used with this agreement, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
Online Casino - Stanley Entertainment's internet gaming system on the Website and related services and gaming activities as offered and listed at www.acropoliscasinos.com including but not limited to, online casino and/or online bingo and/or Online Casino and/or any other games, where applicable;"

and so on, etc.

It also concerns me that they still do not offer online chat help. Though this may not be required, it does not lend to their credibility when any facets of the casino are in question.

Suzecat, did you notice any problems accessing/playing the Progressives?

I've been trying to keep up with the new posts/updates on this thread, so forgive me if I've missed anything. I can see that there was question as to if Stanley Entertainment (a reputable group) is still owner, and that a couple of members, primarily Caruso have been researching this issue.

Caruso, have you been able to confirm what ownership this casino is under, or is investigation on this still ongoing, etc.?

When I first opened the account (early Feb.), I did notice a markable difference in their customer service from what it has turned into. I see other players have noticed this.. so this is all still a mystery, and no changes on my end. Thanks and appreciation to all the comments/posts/information regarding this.

Interesting note...

Upon trying to search more info on this Acropolis situation/ownership.. I came across this, and I see Alistair Assheton's name has been mentioned throughout this thread as the key person to contact..

Anyone happening to be attending this the next two days??

Acropolis

You are not alone, Cynthia. I have been getting the same server error message as you on the progressives for a month now. And the same as you I'm not depositing there until this is corrected or explained.
I have emailed them three times since the 1st of last month, the 1st two went unanswered but I sent the third one to the cs@acropolis email address from a previous post and got a prompt reply. The only problem was they just said something about forwarding my email to the appropriate channels and never mentioned the progressive slot deal, even though I specifically asked what the problem was. That was two days ago.
Maybe you could try that email addy, though. Good luck !

Suzecat, did you notice any problems accessing/playing the Progressives?

Cynthia: just tried it and have same problem as you describe. Downloads ok but jackpot shows as $0 and then popup appears that says server is unavailable and I can play in offline mode. :eek2:
