it is common for chinese or maybe asian bj players to criticise other players who draw cards when they are at 12-14 against the dealer's card when it is 3,4, 5 or 6. they call it a chance ie the dealer busts when drawing 2 high cards in succession. i also feel irritated by these people and occasionally give them a piece of my mind but wont resort to violence.

This is why race can be relevant in such cases. Asian players also have other customs, such as wanting to peek slowly at the cards in Baccarat. This is why we get many "Asian rules" variants of some casino games.

However, common practice does not make something OK. Verbally berating a player just because they play differently to oneself is bullying, and can be considered a "verbal assalt". The OP's problem was that he rose to the bait, and made the first move of a physical assalt.

From the postings, the OP comes across as aggresive himself, and something of a "bully", yet this is exactly the kind of behaviour he couldn't take when it was done to him.

More like Attempted Assault. The only time the Casino could have him arrested is if the person he threw the glass at decided to press charges. Spitting on a Security Guard may hold water for a charge, however; I do not think that the Casino would want to waste the Courts time for a petty offence.

Keeping money, because someone tossed a glass, spat or swore at you is not good practice. It could be compared to an individual being rude to CS and the Casino holding the funds (It has happened).

In any event, I do not doubt that the Casinos intention was not to profit from throwing the OP out, but in making a point. Im almost certain he will be reimbursed if he follows the correct channels.
