I've been hearing the rumblings about Resorts & Bally's shutting down, but nothing concrete. Yesterday, we received free slot play mailers from Resorts, good Dec. 1, 2, 3. (sort of like all these MGs sending me promos).

I'd wish they could hold on till better times, but, IMO, Resorts just never got off the ground in the first place when they bought those two casinos.

I'm hoping for a Tunica Xmas trip, so we can help keep the lights on at Sam's a while longer...
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.

I just talked with my dad earlier about the Resorts closing, he has been a supervisor in security there at the Tunica property for a few years now and he was talking with one of the higher up district managers the other day and he had told my dad that they had already met their quota for the last quarter of this year as far as profit margins were concerned and bonuses were forthcoming and they were not even thinking about laying anyone off, little alone closing....

But in retrospect you never know about these large corporations, they will feed you one day and kick your ass out in the street the next all the while looking you straight in the eye while they lie to you !!

This is premature information but there is management grumblings about closing Resorts then Ballys after the first of the year. Looks like the end of November was a tentative date, probably be closer to the first of the year the way it looks now. Evidently they're looking forward to a long cold winter.

The rumor is further being fueled by jilted casino hosts from Resorts. Evidently they fired all the casino hosts and they're just not going to have hosts there anymore, very odd move. But now they're hell bent on getting revenge and ruining the business.

    Bump

Just got an invite for 3 day stay at Harrahs Tunica for Jan 3-6 2009.

Any changes there that anyone knows of?

    Thanks!

Harrah's has closed or is in the process of closing the Memphis office, there's a few dealer layoffs at Harrah's but there's no threat of Grand/Harrah's closing that I know of.
