My Hubby and I go to Cherokee at least 2x a yr for the last 6yrs, We live in Upstate SC, so it's not that far for us.
We spoke to a member of the tribal board there, we stop by his shop and visit each yr. They were going to get live card games (like poker, they even built the card room, but then made it to a non-smoking area instead) our friend told us the reason they didn't was due to the NC government, the government would only give them permission to put in live cards if they would fork over of the casino profits to state roads....now...if anyone has been in cherokee, you know the roads there are not kept on the reservation, so the tribal counsil said no...they wouldn't give more to roads they dont' get.
Some new things i saw last month when we were up there....they have alot of the newer vegas style slots, and yes, the lock and rolls are slowly falling away...I myself like those, like the idea of 2 spins for one bet.
they also brought in these really big machines, they have a virual live dealer, they only had a few before, now they have more.
but the one thing i do notice, there are ALOT more players there, especially during the weekends, you will be lucky to get to play any good slot games cause it's sooo packed, hubby and I like to go in the middle of the night :-)
What is really nice about going up there, is we usually get free rooms for 3 nights, and the hotel is beautiful, we have to reserve at least a month or 2 in advance, but there is so much else to do up there, love the shops, and there are alot of walks you can take to waterfalls and such. So you are not limited to just gambling.
Those who were going have fun....plan on nice walks too. OH, and i think the payout percentage is low... although hubby and I have gone out with money, it's more often we don't ...lol
