My Hubby and I go to Cherokee at least 2x a yr for the last 6yrs, We live in Upstate SC, so it's not that far for us.

We spoke to a member of the tribal board there, we stop by his shop and visit each yr. They were going to get live card games (like poker, they even built the card room, but then made it to a non-smoking area instead) our friend told us the reason they didn't was due to the NC government, the government would only give them permission to put in live cards if they would fork over of the casino profits to state roads....now...if anyone has been in cherokee, you know the roads there are not kept on the reservation, so the tribal counsil said no...they wouldn't give more to roads they dont' get.

Some new things i saw last month when we were up there....they have alot of the newer vegas style slots, and yes, the lock and rolls are slowly falling away...I myself like those, like the idea of 2 spins for one bet.

they also brought in these really big machines, they have a virual live dealer, they only had a few before, now they have more.

but the one thing i do notice, there are ALOT more players there, especially during the weekends, you will be lucky to get to play any good slot games cause it's sooo packed, hubby and I like to go in the middle of the night :-)

What is really nice about going up there, is we usually get free rooms for 3 nights, and the hotel is beautiful, we have to reserve at least a month or 2 in advance, but there is so much else to do up there, love the shops, and there are alot of walks you can take to waterfalls and such. So you are not limited to just gambling.

Those who were going have fun....plan on nice walks too. OH, and i think the payout percentage is low... although hubby and I have gone out with money, it's more often we don't ...lol

I have been to Harrahs Cherokee Casino about 50 times over the last 7 or 8 years but where i used to go about once per month i now go once per year. The biggest difference between it and other casinos i have been to is there is no alcohol. Also no live table games and no poker. The people who go there are some of the most ugly folks i have seen. I dont think i have ever seen a good looking woman there (except for my wife, lol) and you can tell that alot of the people shouldnt be in there. I used to be amazed at how many people were playing 40 quarters per spin. I am sure there are tons of people who have gone bust up there. Kind of sad.
If i had to guess i would say there payout % is about 85%. I KNOW it isnt close to what is in Vegas.
Our family joke is we have bought a Mercedes for one Cherokee indian.

I would say dont go there just for the gambling.

Did Cherokee ever get the Poker Pro machines (multi player holdem). Also what are these new multi player table games? Last time I was there they had replaced the BJ Blitz with awful Three Card Poker that didn't even pay an ante bonus.

I used to go up there and play Let it Ride on the Gamemakers but they removed them to put more crap slots in there.

Also do they still have the blackjack on the old Pot O' Golds? I had heard they were dumping all of their old machines.

    Thanks in advance.

Last time I looked (earlier this week) they still have the 3 card multi-player poker machines. Havent seen any new multi-player Hold'em 's yet ( I too used to play the old machines alot )

They have been replaceing the older machines as fast as they can and have taken most of the BJ games off the Pot O' Gold machines

However, there are still a couple banks of BJ machines left.

Other than that, theres's the table BJ starting at $5 to $100 or more.

Congrats on (what appears to be) a very nice win. Never been to Cherokee, so I've never seen a machine quite like that. Is that a 'lock n roll' ??
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.

Yep, that's one of the few lock and rolls left. They pay half of what you get on a regular machine because you get 2 chances to line up a win.
