Anyone been to Harrah Rincon in California?

I'm thinking of using a free trip i have to go to this casino. The host at bally's in AC told me it's nice but it's isolated. You need to drive 25 minutes to get to san diego.

Am in the process of booking this trip. I'll rent a car and drive to San Diego but Harrahs Rincon looks really nice on the website and the reviews were very favorable.

    It's Great.

I have been there several times...

There is also another Indian Casino down the road called Pala...
A lot of people seem to win there...I never do.

PM me with any questions you may have...

    Good Luck!
    Debra

Harrah's Rincon is only one of many casinos in that general area. Others include Pala, Pauma, Valley View, and Pechanga. All are within 15 minutes of each other. All of them except Pechanga are actually on the same general highway.

Pechanga is right off the 15 freeway so it's the easiest access, but they have much higher limits on their table games and most of their video slots are nickles or higher. It's one of the nicer casinos with many restaurants and a decent buffet. Their rooms are 4 diamond. They have a nice poker room.

Rincon is also nice and pretty much what you would expect from Harrah's.

Pala is also 4 diamonds i believe and they have plenty of penny slots and a great non-smoking section.

Valley View is on top of a hill closer to Escondido and they by far have the best buffet and plenty of penny slots.

Pauma is the smallest and probably the best for low-rollers as most of their slots are penny types. Don't eat there, lol. They are also the only ones with 97.4 and 98% payback slots.

Also, if you go on a weekend, expect an extremely crowded experience. You might have fun driving from casino to casino, but it's not like walking on the strip in vegas.

Also, these grouped casinos are actually in the most northern part of San Diego County and it might be longer than 25 minutes to San Diego. There are also 2 or 3 other casinos in the eastern part of San Diego as well.

And i agree, call the casinos and ask about the fires and highway closures if any.

Have a great time and good luck !!!!

    Wink

Thanks for the advice everybody. Since the trip was complimentary, I wanted to schedule it way in advance. It's not until march of 2008, so hopefully there won't be any issues with fires.

I've never really been to California (live in Phila area), but did come close on last trip to Harveys in lake tahoe. I play mostly slots, but really love one table game called Ultimate texas hold-em. They have this game in vegas and reno, NV as well as one casino in AC (Trump Marina). Fortunately, they have the game at Harrah's Rincon. Really looking forward to the trip and hope my luck is good.

Got really lucky at Harrahs Chester last night playing $5 wheel of fortune on 5 times machine. Two five times symbols came up with a red seven and paid 1500 coins or $7,500. Most I ever won there. Gotta be smart and don't give it back.

Just got back from the san diego/Harrahs rincon trip yesterday. Harrahs Rincon was close to an hour away from San diego and in the worst possible location for a casino. The drive up the mountain was pretty bad.

The casino itself had nice rooms and food, but i would never ever return there. The slots were extremely tight coupled with the terrible location made this a really bad trip. We even checked out a day early so that we could be closer to the san diego airport. Went to the Valley view casino down the road and that was better.

I don't understand that given the poor location of these casinos, how tight they can be. I would never go back or tell anybody to go there. Certainly not worth a 5 hour trip across the country. So far, my best trip with the total rewards casinos has been lake tahoe and then down to Reno. There's things to do there, and also has shows.
