Gripe: Playing VP at the bar

I like to play VP at the bar sometimes -- if the paytables are decent, the machines aren't so far away and I can see the screen, and if the cocktail waitress out on the floor has gone MIA. Any of you other ladies run into this...?

Problem is... I DON'T want to chat, flirt, converse, or otherwise spend much time being 'overly' sociable, particular with fellows who (obviously) shouldn't have anymore to drink. Ask me about paytables or if the coffee is any good. We can talk about the casino's comps policy. But don't ask for my family history (you won't get it) or what's a nice gal like me doin' playing VP all alone... which is none of your business. As we are not joined at the hip, Hubby is off playing poker or Wheel of Fortune, and it doesn't take two people to play VP.

I don't dress like a floozy, hell, I don't even wear makeup half the time when gambling, so don't think I'm on the prowl just because I'm sitting at the damned bar playing VP and sipping coffee or a coke.
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.

Your post brang back alot of memories!
I use to go down to our casino and loved playing the bar tabletop poker machines.
I wasn't much of a drinker but they always gave me coffee on the house and kept the stray dogs away (males trolling) Nothing worse than being distracted by a stranger who wants your life history and thinks they'll end up with a date.
Haven't went to gamble at our casino in over 2 years. Made a promise to myself that once I played the winnings I made there I would take a break.
I've had alot of luck on the bartop Poker machines. Too bad they changed the casino all over and no longer have the bartop ones although they now have them out on the floor.
It would be nothing for me to walk in, put $20 in and walk out with over $1175 in one hit.
Now you got me thinking on why I would play online casinos and not win squat in months when I could go down and probably spend $20 to make a $1000 lol

Mousy ...I haver a hunch that you don't NEED a drop of makeup and I bet in person you have that automatic personality that attracts people ...or maybe it's that you might wear skirts with no undies ??
Anywho Tom and I went gambling last night and I even said to him . I don't feel like chatting with anyone tonight . I don't feel like holding seats or machines . I don't feel like giving dierections to the restroom ....I just want to be left alone . We were there 10 minutes when it started and I got up and moved LOL . The lady must have thought I was a bitch but that is one of the things I liked about gaming at home ...it was on my terms .

That's the thing you see... when I'm playing VP I need to pay attention to what I'm doing. I've got a one track mind anyway. Get me off track and.... Here's an example: Playing a quarter suited progressive at the bar at Sam's in Tunica. It was up to $2600+ for the Spades RF. I had 4 to the spade RF. Held the cards... Some wobbly fart sitting next to me, poked me on the arm, asked me LOUDly How the hell do you get a drink around here. And I hear screams and squeals and the lady the next seat down had hit the spade prgressive. I thought about killing the guy, but didn't think I could get his body down to the river without someone noticing. (I'm kidding... I think. ) Oh, and when I finished the draw, I got garbage.

I like playing VP on slant top machines, but they're sometimes hard to find. My arms and shoulders hurt like hell after playing upright VP machines for hours at a time.

If you're losing hand over fist online (you'd have to wait for withdrawals, anyway) and you live near a decent B&M casino.... Let's put it this way... at least you'd get a free drink while you played, and you can walk out with your winnings.

Silky... no, I learned not to wear a skirt at casinos... Climbing up and down off a bar stool can cause quite a ruckus.... LOL

That is the nice thing about playing online. Quiet... peace and quiet and a few spins to have a bit of fun. But when it's so dang hard to deposit, even harder to get your money out.... Guess I'll just have to wait till I get a chance at a B&M trip...

And I positively HATE weekends in the casinos. That's one reason it takes an act of congress for me to get away from work for a trip, because I want to go gambling during the week when the casino is less crowded, and I can play where and when I want.

I agree with everything. I miss playing online in my PJ's, I love VP at a bar or frankly anywhere, but SHUT THE HELL UP!!! I am NOT there to chat. People always ask me why I don't play table games and I say because I don't want to talk to anyone. I talk to people all day at work. I gamble to have fun and escape the pressures of the day. Am I right ladies??

Oh how I hear you there! The experience I remember the most was when I put $5 into the Poker machine, it was playing really well, next thing a natural Royal Flush was dealt out, guy plops his butt down beside me and starts a conversation and inbetween trying to get rid of the jerk and forcing a smile, I hit the deal button without saving the cards!!!!!!
$1175 gone down the drain and the smile quickly faded.
So uh, make you a deal, I'll help you down to the river with the body if you'll help me next time we decide to venture to a landbased casino
Floor walkers did give a coupon for $25 when they found out the guy was bothering me lol.

    I totally agree with you!
Forty hours plus at work all week, and we're ready for some down time.
Thats one of the reasons I've started to play online. No one around to distract you (except for Murphys Law of the phone ringing soon as you get comfy in the chair).
Way I see it, I've been single again for 6 years now and I don't go out to bars, nor play Bingo(its frustrates the heck out of me) and I'm entitled to take $30-$35 every week or every second week to enjoy loosing my money at online casinos all the while enjoying some peace and quiet

I am so in my own world when I am playing VP that when my hubby comes over to see how I am doing, I jump about 3 feet...lol. I don't mind a "congrats" when I hit something good but, other than that, I want to be left alone.

I hear ya! I really miss playig online. It's so nice to grab a cup of java and chill for a while.

I work in an office and have to talk to people all day... answer phones, be 'nice'. And when I take one of my little vacations... I want to eat, sleep, gamble, and no strangers allowed in my little 'happy zone'.

Romosan: I know how that is. I get to concentrating, and if it's quiet and the machine is fast, I'm doing 900 hands per hour and then when interrupted, it's like someone hit me and it startles me. "WHAT!?!" I have to remember that the cocktail waitress is a 'friend' and not to be snarled at.
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
