I'm Andy Tepper, though friends call me Teppy. I'm lead designer of the MMO "A Tale in the Desert" which has been out for a number of years.

I've joined the forum because I'm now working on a new project which is an MMORPG based on gambling, and I'm trying to understand what makes one gambling experience more fun than another.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi Teppy. Glad to have you on board! :)

Although I will admit to ignorance, what the heck is a MMORPG? Since I am showing my ignorance....What the Heck is a lead designer of the MMO "A Tale in the Desert"? :o

What I do know is you will learn a lot about gamblers here and how they think.

MMORPG

See, I figured that I was stepping into a new world :)

MMORPG means "Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game." Usually that means that it's a game that takes place in a 3D virtual world where you see your character and a bunch of other people's characters on-screen at the same time. These other characters are real people who happen to be logged in at the same time as you.

In A Tale in the Desert, what you do changes the world - so you may build some new structure, and others will see what you built when they explore. You can make friends and build with other people. Much of what you do in ATITD is building.

My new project is also an MMORPG - you see people running around in the virtual world, but instead of gameplay based on building, its gameplay is based on gambling. So you advance your character by winning games of chance, and/or games of skill. Games of chance are the primary focus.
