The only difference is that when they vote yay or nay on a post, they affect the poster's reputation either a little or a lot. People who are more active in the board tend to gain more by their participation - gaining via positive comments or by merely existing. A run-down on how the points are computed is listed here:

As of now, most everyone has a modest rep. There are only about 14 users with reps over 50. This should change once more people get into it. Does that answer your question?

Actually it's 17 members who have a rep higher than 50.

I've also recalculated the user reputation with the current settings, so some of the higher numbers have shifted down a little (like mine )

shouldnt reputation power depend on reputation points a lot more than now.

for example a quick look around the forum shows some anomalies, for example there is people with minimal posting who have the same rep.power as yourself through the virtue of being on this board a long time.

likewise someone can post crap all of the time and gain a high rep changing power.

There are a number of variables that affect the point system, and in the long run they will work out. If someone is posting crap - well then people might think it's crap and let him/her know by giving negative points. Check out how the points system works once more and if you have any suggestions on increasing or decreasing any variable, please let me know.

I have only 15 points because I choose this amount. Since I have the oldest account on the board, and have the most postings, I would yield shitloads of rep points power and all would cower before me

Thus I have 15 points so I won't be accused of being a power abuser.

But CM you are 'der fuhrer' of the board though as you have ultimate authority.I think you should have a reasonable difference in rep.power terms.

i think points for lenght of membership should be thrown out altogether, as i think it can be misleading, for example somebody who comes to the board, registers an account just to make a PAB, does a couple of posts and then dissapears again is going to be steadily accumalating points for nothing.

this could be misleading for casino reps and other members when reading a complaint.

on a similar vein, i think it will be open to abuse as it is, rather than some players "friends" opening account when they encouter a problem, they will be opening them up as soon as possible in anticipation of future problems, to accumalate rep. points through lenght of service on here.

Well points through length of service on here should stay in place in my opinion but the system should be slow on giving away points.Lets say 2 points a month or per 15 visits otherwise it can indeed be misleading.
