some ideas for the forum

Ugly Monster section: when a thread becomes a rant/argument, the offensing posts are normally chucked to wild cards as "rant from (thread)". maybe there should be a deeper dungeon yet, the ugly monster section, where rants/fallout can be shunted. perhaps a penalty like a yellow card or 24hr ban for anyone whose posts get moved there, to help keep these things in check and let the person(s) have a time out to check themselves.

plus you could make a wicked login page up for when someone's been dumped into the penalty box, "it's come to our attention that you're an ugly monster! (insert big ugly monster graphic) :quote(offending_post)quote: we'll welcome you back with a more pleasant attitude at hh:mm dd/mo when your account will be reinstated"

More Mods: can we get another moderator? a second ref checking in on the action would help nip things in the bud. i don't know who would do it, but someone in north america (and/or asia/australia) could probably service different times of day than simmo in uk. if i wasn't back working, i'd volunteer my services, since in my free time i usually stop in frequently.

hope this helps. i think the UM section would be a good and funny idea. cross our fingers that no one's going to be misbehavin' but the weekend is coming up.

IMO we already have enough distractions from the real purpose of this forum, which I believe is to exchange information, views and news primarily about online gambling.

The thing with rants is that members should have the self-control to not let "rants" happen. And honestly, this has only happened a handful of times where I had to move a portion of a thread to the Wild Cards section - which is now closed by the way. In my opinion, there is no need to open a new forum just for people to go ape-shit and say things that they would eventually regret.

As for a new moderator, funny you should mention that. We have a new moderator starting December first who will be focused on the complaints section. This is the area that needs work. Player issues should be a priority here - not appeasing people who misbehave.

Jetset is right, everyone needs to focus on the purpose of this forum: exchanging gambling information.

i agree on both sides of the issue but i do think that alot of the forum members imo enjoy the wild card section, [b]i try to post things that i feel need to be brought to the attention of the other members, ie womans issues, defective toys, and some that may just be off the wall subjects.[/B]there are alot of members who do not or can not gamble but want to be involved in one way or the other until this mess is resolved with the u.s ban on online gaming.[/B[B]]i belong to no other forums just casinomeister and i have made so many good friends through this site so with that i would like to thank you bryan. i hope that you will reconsider in the future re- opening w/c for those who do enjoy it as well as the other sections................................laurie

Hi Lauriejim,

I understand where you are coming from, but even though some US members are not active in online gambling, there are a number of sections that should appeal to them. There is the Casino Industry section, Land Based Casinos section, and there's a Webmaster Corner that could be used more often.

Don't forget poker - poker doesn't have to be online. There is plenty of room for poker tips etc. in the poker section.

With Wild Card

Let put it in an analogy type form:

You go to a Landbased Casino, you gamble for a bit but are losing. You dont want to go back to your hotel room because you still want to be around the atmosphere. There is shopping stores, restaurants, clubs, bars and even movie theaters.

That is Wild Cards Brayn: It's the stores and restaurants no? We have a joke section (that could be the night club) You see what I mean? People who are confrontational will make problems in any thread, taking away WC wont make things "go away" they will just move the problems elsewhere

I think the last couple of days since it went back up has been wonderful. Bingo and I got to connect with stuff, Bally used the Advice corner and we announced winners for the contest.

I dont think the site will benefit from losing WC, infact, you could lose valuable members that gamble and participate in Screenshots, Online Casinos etc....

I dont know what happened between the time you put it back up until now, but something must of happened and Ive been reading the posts and there hasnt been any negative stuff in WC from then until now. Please trust me on this.You know me by now and know I have no bad intentions or motives.

Have a good weekend Bryan...maybe take a break and do something fun with the family. Youve been on overtime and Im sure whoever is modding this weekend will take care of things well

That is so true Babs.
I also feel if you do put the Wild Card up again Bryan I say make stiff rules that if a War breaks out I say Ban the member forever.
We don't want to ban our selfs from good things to share.And most of us are like family here.
And we all know afew bad Apples can spoil the whole bunch.

Point taken, Tom - but I would suggest that in everything there needs to be moderation, and just lately Wild Cards seems to have overtaken the real objectives of Casinomeister.

Good to hear that the PAB will have a dedicated moderator, Bryan - that should ease some of the load for you and generally improve this very important facet of your site.
