    Why do you post here?

This is a question that has always interested me - why do we feel the need to post here?

In truth my reasons for posting here are pretty odd. I've been pretty lucky from online gaming and am ahead at this point in time (touches wood). However I have this constant fear I may overextend myself and go on some kind of crazy tilt run losing EVERYTHING I have. I have to say it's a constant worry (note to pitboss - could happen any moment). For me this is an absolute constant worry. I have come really close so many times. But everytime the thing that has saved me is coming here and posting. Really coming here and posting some nonsense or other has saved me thousands and thousand of pounds.

Another reason is that despite having done quite well from it I am not even sure I approve of online gambling. Inside of me there is a conscience that questions the whole business. In some ways I think the Americans may be right and the best thing is to ban it altogether. I am from the UK OK and we have a massive period of austerity coming. To this end should we really be encouraging young people to gamble? When the economy was booming in 2007 it didn't seem like a problem but in 2011 the picture is far different and I do think you have to take the world economic situation into account.

The main reason I post here is that I do genuinely try to help other posters. For example I have always advocated taking bonuses/incentives as they are nearly always beneficial for the player if used correctly. I have to nail my colours to the mast here and see this as the ultimate 'no brainer'.

The reason why I post is I feel guilty about winning money from online gaming as I do have doubts about the morality of it all. I know this will sound patronising but I would rather not win at the expense of ignorant people losing if you will pardon the expression. I know I could have put this better but the sentiment is one I feel.

This place certainly has some amazing posters! Please forgive me as I am doing this from memory and can only namechcek a handful.

    Great question DiamondGeezer

To give you a short answer. I post and follow this forum because I am very interested in the gambling industry. And like many others, I think it is great to help others in player related issues and I enjoy discussing industry related topics (Oh...and I don`t have Facebook and I don`t use other forums, so this is the only place where I can post my stuff ).

I do not play so often myself, but I have "always" been very fascinated by the industry and this is a great forum to meet fellow gamblers and I-gaming folks. I first became interested in the industry when my livelihood was trading (financial instruments). I used to analyze many of the gambling related companies and I have ever since followed some of them quite closely . This forum is also a great place to understand the trends in the industry etc.

I agree with you, amazing diversity of people here

I haven't been around as long as some of the others so that's prolly why I didn't make your LIST ----- but "why do I post?" Simply to "SHARE"

There were so many mistakes I made in the beginning that I am embarassed to think back on how little I really knew when I started throwing my money away at online gambling. Then I found this place.

To me, it is a lot like rec.gambling.poker -- (I was an active member there for many, many years as "Diane from Green Bay" -- before it got trashed) A small community of like minded people who shared their experiences, got to meet a few members in RL and enjoyed just talking about a mutual interest.

Lately we have gotten off track here a bit -- but I enjoy sharing my experiences, I enjoy welcoming the new members that legitimately want to be better players, and I like helping people by providing information and directions when someone is lost.

    FWIW,

    Diane

    What is a "proper" gambler?

You seem to have reserved this term for the known advantage players. Do this mean everyone else just doesn't know that they're doing?

I'm quite sure you could have made your point quite succinctly without listing a whole of lot of members and your opinion of them. Besides being inaccurate (in my case), it alienates other (just as important) members who don't make "the cut".

Yes, I agree with you on this. I think he asks a very interesting question "why do you post here?". But maybe he should have done it without "the list".

On the other hand, I think he wrote it in good faith with a little humor, so fair enough. Even though I personally don`t agree with all the descriptions. But yeah, I am cool

    Good question really.

I post at about 3-4 other forums aswell. 2 of them being soccer related, 1 of them beeing music related and one other being sports betting related. I don't know why I post to be honest. I just seem join forums about stuff that interests me. With online gambling being one of them Casinomeister seems like the obvious choice..

Drop by, see the latest screenshots, read about the latest slot releases (thanx rainmaker), post some screenshots when you are lucky enough. Just staying "up to date" really..

And I agree about Vinly, that man has to have like a trillion words posted in here, always enjoy his posts, even tough I go through a whole cup of coffee reading them

    I'm not on the 'A" list either...but

    ...a big

I post because I have learned so much from this forum.

I played at Mighty Slots for goodness sakes, before I discovered this forum!

Now, I play at accredited casinos with their pros and cons, admittedly but as Bryan stated in his "I'm Back!" statement about his experience in Hawaii hotels, etc , about how just a little bit of going above and beyond the regular customer service can achieve more bees to the 'honey'...and that casinos should maybe think about doing the same. It's quite simple, treat the reputable players with respect with some 'appreciation' then we will be repeat players at that casino...beef up the CS.

I read most threads and have gained so much wonderful insight into the industry that when I look back three years ago...I laugh at myself! .

Thanks to everyone here and keep it up...even though ,sometimes it gets heated.

Guys an girls it really wasn't an 'A' list. Basically I have been drinking and can only keep about six names in my head! Probably I shouldn't have namechecked but I couldn't help myself. Hey it was only a bit of fun. please don't hate and take anything personally.

Diane I remember that thread where you destroyed that casino over a delayed payment it was a seminal thread.

Nifty I do feel you need to relax a bit this is only a bit of fun!

Hopefully you peeps can put down your own lists and say why you post here. A lot of effort goes into these posts for sure!

TemperanceFox I'm calling you. What's happened to PinaBaby?
