There are certain posters I thank more often than others. When VWM has a busy posting day, I can usually find 5 of his to thank. Or there are threads that are very active with members contributing very valuable points to the discussion.

If you haven't read the forum in a bit, it is easy to find more than five posts to thank. I've chosen carefully and thanked Robwin for suggestion to increase it to 10, even though he said he was kidding.

I know when I take the time to compose a post and am thanked, it means a lot to me. Not for CM reputation, but to feel my contributions here in this forum are valuable to other people. People need to feel appreciated, and I worry that limiting thanks will limit people's partipation in CM.

Bryan, I have the greatest respect for you. I hope you rethink this.

But this morning (guess that day is GMT) I read posts where members had dug up info on the ownership of casinos, posted updates on payment issues, and had no way to thank or acknowedge them.

Maybe I'll go find them and add some reputation.
You make several very valid points there Jasmine!

    Where and what is this?

I see the reputation points, but when I curse over it, it just says stuff?

I will click on yours and see what happens.

Yes, I am a dork, I clicked Casinomeisters, nothing happened, so I clicked Jasminebed and nothing happened? What am I missing?

Ok, yes I am a REAL DORK, I looked at the buttons above and saw "add reputation" so I just clicked on Robwins and it said "you must spread some reputation around before adding to Robwins again?" Is that because he was the last person I thanked?

Meister referred to it as a button but it is the balance scales that you can see above (right) on each post.

    Hello,

There is no good or bad way when you thank someone. Say thanks is a gesture which should be done when required. It may help you with some brownie points

We have this enabled on the board to you can show appreciation to your fellow members when they make good, informative, helpful posts. You "thank" them.
    http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/thanks.php

This is the right way to do it. Now I know many members use this as an "I Agree" button, well that's fine too. But please bear in mind what you are agreeing with. If the person is making a statement that you agree with, well by all means give him/her a cyber "high-five" with the "Thanks" button.

But if a person is ragging on another member, I would suggest NOT "high fiving" this member because this is "mobbing" and is totally uncool.

Imagine being in a room with the members of the forum. Someone makes a comment directed at you stating "You have no idea what you're talking about. You're a moron - get a life." and people start high-fiving this member - how would you feel?

This is not something you'd do in person; please don't do it in the forum.

In essence, use some discretion when thanking your fellow members.

    Thanks!
