At the seaside there are plenty of local "sharks" that know exactly when a machine is "due" and will wait patiently whilst the holidaymakers fill them up for them

Same in the towns - I was one of them
We had a 70+ machine complex open in the early 90's, stocked with some of the most "doable" machines there were.
It is still there, but there are very few machines now. The machine area was changed into a Pizza place, and a small number of machines were relocated to the bar.
Motorway services are also places where you get "sharks", but the RTP is low like the seaside. Town arcades tend to have higher RTP settings to keep the regulars interested.
When my local one first opened, the settings were VERY high, over 80% on most machines. One row was 98%, a bit of a mistake because they always got emptied.
