    Templates? Argh :-)

    Hey,

I just bought some webspace and a new domain... what I want is to use a CMS, in this case wordpress or joomla, cause I'm really done with programming every single html page in dreamweaver

Now my question is how I get a homepage done that doesn't look like an ugly blog? Can you guys recommend any templates that make my website look like casinomeister.com or that slotjunkies page?

I really need you help in here

    Thank you very much :-)
I found a nice template but I'll have to modify it... don't want my website to look like thousands else.

    Cool stuff, thank you again!

A really good off the shelf template site is www.templatemonster.com.

They provide templates for joomla, drupal, wordpress, flash, standard css, you name it.

I got one for my company website which is here: www.bathrockmedia.com

Alternatively, if you have photochop, check out the tutorials online. It is not that hard to use and you should be able to knock up a half decent skin for wordpress, joomla etc with the use of photochop.

My TS2 site banner was done in photochop.

If you want to modify templates easily, you can try Artisteer if you can justify paying that much for it. You basically take a template to start with and can change pretty much everything about it to make it your own. It is missing a few minor options, but much easier than editing everything by hand.

Using that, editing a few things by hand, and using different wordpress plugins, I created the template for my site. It's still under construction, lots more to add, but I don't think it looks like an ugly blog.

If you need any help with wordpress, I can at least help you with the plugins I've used and edits I've done. I'm still new to wordpress, but I think I've got it working quite well for me.

I have the homepage set to a static page, the posts page is not in view (no links to it), and all I have to do to add stuff is make a new post in the proper category and it will show up on the right page. So it looks more like a website and still easy to add content.

P.S. Sorry for the late reply, you're probably already well on your way. Finally figured out that I had to sign up as a Webby after noobishly applying to be a Webmeister.

The suffusion theme is a great free theme for wordpress.

I've tried maybe 120 different themes (including paid ones) and imo it's the best & easiest for someone who does not know a whole lot about css/custom template talk

You can customize just about anything in the theme making the site your own.
It's pretty easy to work with, I think there is a free tutorial floating around, maybe on YouTube that makes everything super simple when you get around to changing the options.

You can send a message and I'll send a link to how I was able to customize the theme, I'm new to forums and I'm not quite sure if I can include a link yet

If you're happy to spend money on it then check out 99designs - someone had a thread about it on gpwa. Pretty neat it - you post a brief and designers compete, so you get like 30 to choose from! I think a wordpress template was a min of $400.

Thank you so much for your help! LOL I guess casinomeister is the only forum that wont immediately ban you because of fearing one or two players following your link and signup using your affiliate codes instead of Bryans. However, if you post a link dont spam it around and be fair & use casinomeisters links if you're about to play on you own. Guess I signed up through CM at around 20 Casinos, depositing and loosing at least 50 euro per casino
