    Hi,
I ran across this article today. I thought it would be of interest to the poker players. Have a good one.

There are widespread rumors that Pokertropolis does/did use bots. Those who believes bots are/were used there also agree the bots did not cheat, they were used in lieu of hiring props. Propoker was a site almost anyone who played there believes bot were used. There was no way to bluff and virtually no way to win, they are now defunct.

As to using bots, I have read many threads about a certain one. Unlike the above mentioned bots these are not used by the rooms, they are used by the players. Several of the large rooms are "bot proof". Every time the bot designer uses a new method for a player to use it in a room that found a way to catch them they change it. Virtually all rooms state in their T&C that if you are caught using a bot you are banned and winnings confiscated so I hardly see it as worth the risk. Several players have stated simply having the calculator open tips off the anti-bot software though. Virtually any review of bot programs state they cannot win above 1/2 if they can even win at all.

The new playtech poker rooms had bots playing at tables when it was in fun mode. You could pick them out pretty easily and they followed a pretty distinct pattern of play. They would raise and re-raise you, but if you re-raised a 3rd time, they fold lol. There were some other tell tale signs too.

Ah the much heralded ChickenBot v1.1 obviously made it into production then. Thats a relief.

    Poker Room bots

The report I saw on MSNBC was fairly conclusive that bots are being used and that they are working. I tend to agree and find winning online significantly more difficult than winning at real live games in casino poker rooms.
