Question Transitioning from NL to Limit?

Any tips? One of my "resolutions" for the new year is to start playing more limit games. NL is just too volatile right now for me. Any help is appreciated

Playing 2/4 HORSE at stars right now, about 2BB up, playing for about an hour or so...definitely a good way to earn FPP...lol

    Nice going winbig

Well Im no card shark by any stretch of the imagination, but my advice would be to only play high-value hands. Dont waste time with rubbish as it will cost you in the long run - sure you will win the occasional hand and get lucky, but the odds will be in your favor if you play the top hands only.

I find that many ppl who play limit think 'cool its only costing me .50c to have a look' etc and will play many hands, and for you this is great news as your top hands will pay off even better. Again, you will get ba beats sometimes but its all about the long term with poker and you cant change the basic mathematics involved with playing big hands.

I'm ahead using this method, but others may think Im full of s*it so wait until you get a few more thoughts

    Happy New Year

I assume you mean PL. Otherwise, it could be just as volatile as some players will follow you to the River with just any hand including unsuited 2-7

Nope...straight up limit games...no pot limit or nl for awhile for me, unless it's in a tournament..

and I don't really follow you? I guess it can be just as volatile, but your risk is quite less, imo....as in you can't lose your whole stack in one hand...

Biggie, it's volatile in the sense that if there are at least 2 players who raise and reraise pre-flop on every hand (I have encountered this many times) you will not have peace of mind to decide whether you go for it. These guy are buggers but if you have a decent hand say JK or a small pair you will have to ponder every time.

win it really depends on the table your at as a set in stone strategy for any table or any limit will get people reading you easily...
    my advice
on a very loose tbl see flops as cheaply as possible even with big hands as you know the guys are gonna bet regardless of hitting or not so just reap up the big hands u hit ...if u miss the flop wait till next time
on a tight table do the opposite as above

but as i said it really depends on each individual table

good luck for 2009 and "WINBIG"
