    PokerStars disqualifies WCOOP champ

    'TheVOID' NOW DEVOID....OF WCOOP WINNINGS

    'TheV0id' disqualified as WCOOP champion

It's taken two weeks, during which rumour and debate has swirled around the poker sites and fora, but this week PokerStars has acted on allegations of irregularities in the activities of 'TheV0id', who won over a million dollars in prize money during the recent World Championship of Online Poker main event.

And the news is not good for 'TheV0id' who is stripped of the winnings, allowing everyone else in the competition to move up a spot.

Following a two-week investigation which concluded on October 1, PokerStars has released a statement disqualifying the original winner and revealing the following:

"The investigation into the WCOOP Main Event has now been concluded.

"We have determined, based on the totality of evidence, that the tournament winner "TheV0id" was in breach of the PokerStars Terms of Service.

"In the interests of Game Integrity, "TheV0id" has been disqualified from first place.

"All other WCOOP Main Event prizewinners in addition to the player who originally bubbled in 415th place will therefore advance one place in the prize pool. The necessary financial adjustments to reflect the revised tournament places will be made within the next 24 hours.

"Please note that we are unable to release further details of this investigation, for reasons of confidentiality and privacy.

    "Stephen W.
    "Manager, PokerStars Game Security"

'TheV0id' was the original winner of the main event after a 22-hour battle, in which he/she vanquished 'ka$ino' to take over $1 million in prize money. Soon after the win, however, accusations of irregularities arose, questioning the validity of the win.

The questions revolved around the use of two accounts set up by an apparently well known and successful professional poker player, who was alleged on several leading poker forums to have used an account ostensibly set up for someone else when his own account was eliminated during the tournament.

what's the name of this "well known and successful professional poker player"?

I wonder if the players that got knocked out of the tourney(s) by this player have a case?

    I checked cardplayer.com & pokerpages.com and I couldn't find a mention of this story. so lame!

all I saw from a brief search was some forum rumors that this account was in his sister's name and both played from the same IP address. it was her 1st tourney but apparently she took to high-stakes tourney poker instantly! again just something in a forum post so who knows?

i wonder if pokerstars security actually picked up on this and investigated or if some 3rd party had to tip them off? i guess I'll go ahead and assume the worst since they don't appear to be forthcoming with the info.

This seems odd that they wont go into further details as to why he was disqualified. If it was the use of multiple accounts why wouldnt they just come out and say so? They were more than willing to do so when zeejustin was caught, if i remember correctly.

I wonder what is really going on here.

well it was the World Championship of Online Poker!!! hardly a ringing endorsement for their security system if indeed two accounts played this event from the same IP

Same reason casinos generally don't tell obvious fraudsters why they got caught. Why tell a cheater how to avoid getting caught in the future?

There is a lot going on behind the scenes in this situation. It doesn't look like anything is going to change though.
