    Pokerrooms

    Hi all,

I want to play poker online but hear all these horror stories about cheating casinos. How they let lesser players win more than they should, how their software helps to increase their rake, cheating players etc.

Which pokerroom is fair, doesn't do any of the rogue practices I mentioned above and actually does something against cheating?

Is there such a pokerroom? Or do they simply not exist?

I have checked out the Prima Poker Accredited Online Poker Rooms, but would like to hear your opinions.

    John

    Welcome to the forums johndem ;

The security depts. of the cardrooms aren't very open about the cheating detection methods that they employ. Some poker rooms take it much more seriously than others, of course. IMHO, there are quite a few cardrooms out there, that have shown by their policies / actions that they could care less about cheating / collusion.

There are only two major cardrooms out there that have gone public regarding past attempts to thwart cheating in their poker rooms PokerStars, and Party Poker.

I have played pretty much exclusively at PokerStars the last few years. I do not feel as though the software is designed to increase the rake.

One of the major problems I have with the poker rooms, (Although I fully understand why they do it) is that they do not tell what is potting in their investigations departments. I can tell you that Prima (Microgaming) has some of the best and most serious anti cheating systems out there. I also fully agree with REODeathwagon's vote for Pokerstars and Party poker. I just don't like playing there from a personal side. The play at Pokerstars can be most annoying and Party is to big for me. I usually look out for the regular fishes I know at the Prima Network. That way most days are pay days,

Thanks a lot for your replies. I appreciate your help a lot!

Chatmaster, can you tell me why you find the play at PokerStars annoying?
    Is there not enough fish?

No, it is not that. I think I just do not feel at home at poker stars. I am very sensitive about things like that, lol. I tend to play to loose at Pokerstars and often risk allot more than it is worth.

And what about Partypoker? I hear lots of stories that their software is either rigged or just way off.

What are your experiences with them?

Any major online poker room is going to have stories of the software being rigged. It is the way losers justify their losses. As opposed to finding and filling, the holes in their own poker game. I personally played alot of hands at PartyPoker and never felt that their software was rigged or even slightly off.

PartyPoker has a very good regular and frequent bonus system. I rate the bonus system as very good for such a large poker room with lots of games / limits / players.

Besides their lacking customer [no] service issues, the only other problem I personally had with PartyPoker was the extremely high ante to bet amount ratio in their stud games.

I just have to laugh when players accuse poker software of being rigged. At least you'll know they're a fish if they claim it is

Why would a publicly traded company such as PP, or any other major poker network/provider "rig" a game, just to earn a few extra bucks on rake? They could care less who wins or loses a hand/tournament, as long as they get their rake/entry fees.

Why would they want to jeopordize a multi million/billion dollar business for a fish?

Here's a quite funny read that directly pertains to some poker software being rigged: http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/...ure-scums.html

bpb sums it all up in a few lines during the thread:

People like you who are convinced that online poker is rigged generally share a few commonalities.

    1) They suck at poker
    2) They're bound to lose a lot of money at poker because they don't realize #1

But hey, maybe you're the exception.
Operators: If you don't know what Transparency means, then here you go.....now how about practicing it?

Transparency, as used in the humanities and in a social context more generally, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through. ...
