Five 3 day, action packed qualifying festivals in store for Brit players

The title certainly has a ring to it: "The Great British Poker Champion," an accolade that will be earned in a series of events that has all the makings of a grand poker spectacle at venues around the British Isles - and it's sponsored by one of the big UK betting groups, Gala Casinos.

Taking the championship on tour is the Great British Poker Tour, with five qualifying festivals that will take place throughout the UK the year, with the first event scheduled for the Gala Maybury Casino in Edinburgh between February 21 and 25.

Other events, all televised, will be at the Gala Casino Teeside (April 4-8) the Gala Casino Nottingham (May 9-13) the Gala Casino Bournemouth between June 13 and 17, and Gala Casino Bradford (August 15 to 19) The overall winner will be crowned after the Grand Finale between October 29 and November 4.

Each festival will feature three days of action, including a two-day GBP 500+50 No-Limit Hold'em main event, to which Gala will add GBP 5 000, and every main event winner will secure a VIP seat at the GBP 500 000 prizepool GBPT Grand Finale.

The winner of the GBPT Grand Finale will win an all-expenses-paid trip to the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas in December 2007, and the runners-up will get packages to the Aussie Millions and various European Poker Tour events.
