    Superior Poker re-enters US market

SUPERIOR POKER RE-ENTERS THE U.S. MARKET

No explanations for their exit, but it's nice to have them back anyway

The Action Poker Network site Superior Poker.com has announced that it has re-entered the U.S. market with effect from December 1 and will be offering a full range of poker services and tournaments to US players going forward.

American poker players are now able to deposit real money through a good choice of methods and play real-money poker games at this poker room, which initially opened for business in 2003 and is licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, and owned and operated by Sonsorol NV in Curacao, Netherland Antilles.

"We're serious about all players, and we continue to believe that online poker is a skill game and is not affected by the recent legislation passed in the United States," commented Superior Poker.com's Manager, Charles J. Burton, referring to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

No reason was given for the change of company strategy.

SuperiorPoker.com offers a selection of poker games, including Texas Hold'em, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo, Guts, Chinese Poker, Big 2, and is one of the few poker rooms offering Panguingue (Pan).

Guts? wow...never thought I'd see that online. Hopefully they have a cap on it. That &$@ can get expensive, real fast!
Operators: If you don't know what Transparency means, then here you go.....now how about practicing it?

Transparency, as used in the humanities and in a social context more generally, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through. ...

Action Poker's network owner LVFH sold to a private company on November 30th. This is why Action Poker skins can now take U.S. players again. Nine bailed just a bit too soon. Those games were really loose, good games. Hopefully it is still that way.

As always, you're right on the mark with your poker industry knowledge, p.a. - the sale was to the growing Scandinavian public company PlaySafe Holdings AS, which is building up a sizeable online casino and poker group with the purchase earlier this year of the Black Widow/Sterling House/ Grand Bay group

Those casinos have stayed with Playtech software, routing US players instead to Breakaway and Sci Fi (using RTG software) in some sort of deal the details of which are not known to me.

Here's the start of the acquisition story from Casinomeister News:

Another business deal was sparked by the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act this week when Las Vegas From Home Inc. sold off the thriving Action Poker Network to a subsidiary of the publicly listed Norwegian group PlaySafe Holdings AS.

It is understood that Playsafe Holdings Limited acquired the network for $2.35 million, and that the change of ownership is scheduled for November 17 this year.

LVFH spokesmen said that the company had brought the sale forward due to the enactment of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in America, although it had previously planned to sell APN so it could focus on the development of its Asian Multiplayer Software Platform.

Grand Banks, I think you meant. Grand Bay is part of Grand Prive.

Playsafe also owns Sci-Fi and Breakaway.

The network went back to not accepting US players. The traffic is very low now.
