    BoDog's New Software

Anyone play in today's beta test freeroll. Man their new software sucks. It will still suck when they fix all the bugs. I like their current software package. Nothing wrong with it and I have no clue why they want to change it.

I played in the test tournament and it was somewhat a disappointing experience. Got disconnected a couple of times from the server at crucial times, last time when there was 33 left (27 places paid), short stacked with a decent hand on BB. When I got back in I was out (30th).

While the new software has some nice features there are some I don't like. One example being the square table which is a little confusing. In general I like the new version more than the old. It also seems to run more smoothly on my PC.

I hadn't played there lately, and remembered good things about the games, so I dropped in and played some LHE and PLO. I can't tell what changed. No major interface changes, no square tables. Am I missing something?

On the plus side, I must've sat on a horseshoe before I dropped in, so it wasn't a total waste.

this was a beta test and not available to everyone. I think only affiliates got to play. I saw many player names that were also site names. You didn't miss anything...it sucked. I never got disconnected but the none of the pre action buttons worked for me. Software was somewhat slower than their normal (wich their normal is some of the fastest on the net). So the slowdown only made it like all the other sites. The table screens are still to big...I can't four table on one monitor. Also they lost the seperate tourney lobby screen. When you click on the tourney lobby it goes over the table you are playing on. The box that shows you who goes out and in what order is small (only see five players then have to move the list up). If they go to this system then I won't be playing there...when I come back from my poker hiatus once the tourist season ends here in Florida.

it was the crappiest crappy crap software I have ever seen, what on earth were they thinking?

    That square table???

And the picture in picture, which is only there because the tournament info table wouldn't open seperately!
iew, at least make it an option
If you're going to do a mini view, at least make it an option not a necessity, and make it VIEWable

If they introduce this for real they will instantly drop to the position of last in the market for software - yes even behing Pacific

Bodog's (current) client is an upgraded form of the ancient Poker.com client. Frankly, it sucks. The graphics are poor, and is still very buggy. It's difficult to retrieve hand histories. I haven't played on the site in months, but in early versions of the client there appeared to be no algorithm for detecting collusion.

Stars and Full Tilt are probably the best clients. Party's is good, Prima's is a little unwieldy for multi-table play, but it's ok. Pretty much all the major sites have at least acceptable ones.

agree with the first statement. However, party software still has lots of bugs to take care of.

Played in it and finished 32nd. Guess going all-in as the 5 place chip leader wasn't a good idea. I did have KJ though.

Anyway, the software was quite a disappointment. As stated by others, the functionality was buggy, especially with the pre-action buttons. For instance it wouldn't let you fold without saying you could stay in for free, even though there was a raise out on the table. I suppose they will fix that stuff, but I was expecting a steller look-and-feel. As much great advertising and marketing that Bodog puts out, you would think they would have an interface to rival Full Tilt or at least Pokerroom. It is a very rudimentary interface, and doesn't separate them in any positive way from other popular poker rooms. My suggestion is they hire a good UI designer and an illustrator and go back to the drawing board. They can certainly afford it.

Ok. I just looked at it. Wow! I can't believe it. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

It's amazing to see some "mistakes" these companies make in their attempts to provide a viable poker experience. I still can't believe the graphics at Absolute and Poker Room. Both very hard on the eyes.

Why not look to someone who has been successful already, and mimic them? I've always liked the software at Paradise. No nonsense, just an appealing and working poker game. And the graphics at Crypto are appealing also.

Or why not consult with someone who is actually a poker player? You can't tell me whoever thought up that mess at BoDog has ever played poker beyond at the kitchen table with their grandmother. It's awful!
