Is Virgin on Boss or Wagerworks?

I thought Virgin had online poker rooms on the Wagerworks network, but I got this industry news from an analyst:

BOSS MEDIA has launched its Virgin Poker network with Virgin Games in the UK, I-Gaming Business reported. The site was soft-launched in 2004 but has been revamped and will be aggressively marketed by Virgin Games this year, I-Gaming Business reported. Boss Media is a large Internet gaming software company. It trades on the Stockholm exchange.
Is Virgin going to leave the Wagerworks network for Boss? This will affect WPTonline.com as they share player liquidity, no?

Fascinating industry. You really got to pay attention.

Wow, they don't look like they were very happy with Wagerworks as a poker provider.

    Press releases

Virgin Games Selects Boss Media to Provide New Poker System
    2005-10-31 08:20

Boss Media has today signed up Virgin Poker, part of the Virgin Games Group, to its platform, ending a long search by Virgin to find the ideal partner for the relaunch of its Poker game.

"Boss has everything we were looking for in terms of playing experience, site stability and, most importantly of all, liquidity. The combination of their technical expertise and the Virgin Brand is going to create a major new challenger in the online Poker market place, and we are really looking forward to getting behind it," says Simon Burridge, Chairman of Virgin Games.

A condition of the Agreement is that Boss will imminently be relocating to Malta, which will satisfy Virgin's requirement to be regulated in a white list jurisdiction.

Virgin Poker believes that, despite the rapid growth of online Poker over the last few years, there is still a large untapped audience for Poker as it continues to become a natural entertainment choice alongside a game of football or a night out at the cinema.

In addition to the many distribution channels available throughout the Virgin Group and the ability to use collateral from sister Virgin companies, Virgin will be able to offer its players the chance to earn Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points for every hand they play. This has already proved a significant retention tool on Virgin's Casino site.

"Virgin has the perfect brand and position for marketing digital services and I think the partnership between Boss Medias fast growing poker network and the Virgin Games Group is a perfect match," says Peter Bertilsson, CEO of Boss Media.

They have recently moved to Boss. Their old software was a nightmare with frequent crashes and freezes BUT.. on the old software players from the UK could deposit and withdraw in GB£. On the Boss software you gotta deposit and withdraw in US$ and Boss rip you off about 5% in the buy/sell rates. So im afraid for me its no longer worth playing anymore. ($100 deposit charges £59.88, when you cash out that $100 you get £55.26 )

You mean UK customers playing with a UK company can't use UK money?

What genius came up with that?

IGT just bought Wagerworks. Wagerworks was founded and run by Steve Wynn's nephew, Andrew Pascal. I'm amazed that they couldn't get a good poker platform together.

This is the sort of information that makes me love these boards...investors relying on the happy statements of analysts and executives are at a disadvantage.

    thanks guys & gals!

Its ironic that they use "advanced software" to stop US citizens accessing the site... but you got to deposit in dollars
