I believe Spear's definition of a white label is succinct and right on the money.

Where the Silverstone thing complicates the issue is that, as Nash says, it seems to be a ruse to cover the tracks of the real people behind the various brands.

And because Silverstone so successfully obfuscates the issue, none of us can be sure exactly what sort of animal it is - white label provider for cloaked owner/owners, or a genuine corporate group like ITS which happens to own a number of brands.

I've never really liked the white label concept, which is now being portrayed in a more acceptable light as companies start up B2B divisions like Dragonfish and Betsson Business Solutions. And of course St Minver has been at it for years (and is probably one of the less troublesome of the genre).

On paper it may look good, but it too often hides the real identity of those behind the venture who control cashflow and make decisions that can adversely impact both players and suppliers if things go wrong.

This is especially perilous when small, underfunded software providers or casino companies start involving themselves in this area of the business imo.

Edited to repeat Spear's definition, which is worthwhile remembering imo: "...a white label is considered to be a casino managed or operated by someone on behalf of someone else."
