Ok, obviously folks still have thoughts they want to express on this subject so we'll try reopening the thread.

Please return to the original topic, as above, and let the flames die.

First - yes... And thank you.

    Second:

Wouldn't it be more prudent to ask ALL of the AFFILIATES what they would like?

I mean - I would really like to see more information on:

How to be a better affiliate -
    How to market myself more...
Which affiliate places to stay away from -
    Which ones pay -
Which ones offer good companies -
Which ones offer better rates -
    Which places pay better -
How to know when it is going bad -
    What to look for -

    etc. etc.

Affiliates are kinda in competition, so I doubt that would be the primary focus of an affiliates' union.

The primary focus would be throw unified weight against operators who mistreat an affiliate - and provide serious disincentive to operators to mistreat an AU affiliate.

There are many unions which represent groups in competition with each other. The fact that affiliates are often competing with other affiliates would not prevent such a union from being powerful - it merely presents problems in the formation of such a union, as you can see evidence of throughout this thread.

Well maybe affiliates ought to stop thinking singularly and start working together.

    There is a BIG market.

Sharing that market is what is going to happen anyway. Whoever is better at those things is going to be the one to get the fish.

Affiliates really ought to realize that helping each other - and signing up under each other might be extremely profitable.

Instead of all this backstabbing stuff.

    Sigh.

I am really getting tired of people who are only out for themselves - I mean it's great to make a buck - but dang - don't PUT other people down just to make yourself "better" - when in reality - WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.

You don't have to share ALL of your secrets... But dang - I have some stuff I could share with others - and I'd love to have some info to help my site out as well. Yanno?

Whilst you know I'm a fan of yours WagerWitch, I don't think this will ever happen - not in the sense where competitors help each other that way. Working together towards a mutual aim like an Affiliates Union? Sure, I can see that working if setup properly and by the right people. Sharing basic information / networking? Sure, already happens on a lot of forums.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's comparable to online poker, where all the best players would freely give out unbelievably amazing and high-quality advice freely on forums around the world - because that was primarily driven by egotistical motivations, imo. Also arrogance, i.e. "no harm in sharing some of my secrets, I'm unbeatable anyway".

I don't know of any other competitive industry apart from online poker players where competitors worked together like that.

But an Affiliates Union has merit in terms of Protection of Affiliates, which might be part of the information you're talking about, right? Example: "I suspect this casino is taking whales off my rev share link, anyone else?" A string of "Yes" in reply - the union might vote and group block that casino to send a message to Affiliate Managers that that kind of crap won't be tolerated.

The answers to much of the above are already at affiliateguarddog.

Scroll to the bottom of that forum and all places on the list are clearly marked according to those kind of features, and there is a personalized training/support system for webmasters in place too. Also, terms changes are announced as they happen, so you do know who is fixing to go bad...

IMO a union needs to concentrate on what we do not yet have in place elsewhere. A new organization that levies no fees anyplace needs to stay very focussed or it will fail.

I think what we definitely do not have anywhere is the sense of unity or teamwork. The postings in this thread alone show a high degree of intolerance and fighting between the affiliates. A new organization must therefore at the very beginning develop a concept which may convince affiliates, who compete with each other, that only give and take will bring them in a win-win situation. This may sound like a utopia, but without such a basis, a new organization will not achieve anything beyond what CM, AGD, GPWA and other forums are already delivering.

I do not mean to take the AU, GAU etc and dictate what to do, but when i was pushing sportbooks I got good payouts, good commission etc by start with a group of 7 of us

    7. That was all.

My advice, start small, and go from there...make it a "buying group" more then a union and wait for a snowball effect...

just a suggestion, wishing you all luck..

Just wanted to let you know that the 3 month domain transfer restriction applies only to stop the domain being transferred to another registrar. In other words, you have to wait 3 months to transfer from one registrar to another.

BUT there is no restriction on transferring ownership of a domain to another person if they have an account at the same registrar. This is known as a 'push', and virtually every registrar has a quick and painless procedure for this. The domain could be transferred to a new owner every single day if desired.

I understand this may no longer be an issue, just letting you know

    Not such utopia.
