    Mario Galea resigns from LGA

    http://www.lga.org.mt....newsID=77

    Lotteries and Gaming Authority CEO

The Board of Directors of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) has accepted the resignation of Mr. Mario Galea from the post of Chief Executive Officer of the Authority with immediate effect. Until a new CEO is identified Mr Michael Gonzi has been appointed Acting CEO.

In July 2008 the LGA appointed a new Board of Directors under the chairmanship of Mr Nicholas Xuereb.

The Lotteries and Gaming Authority has grown over the years in line with the successful expansion of the gaming industry in Malta. It has recently embarked on a strategic change programme intended to strengthen Malta’s regulatory regime, making it the quality jurisdiction that both consumers and investors in the industry expect.

The Lotteries and Gaming Authority is a public single regulatory body that is responsible for the governance of all forms of gaming in Malta.

Someone tell me this actually means something, and that perhaps not all hope is lost when it comes to situations like the Interwetten issue, which has been ongoing for months and months. Malta hasn't even had the decency to render a decision one way or another, and to inform affected players of same.

Let's hope this may be a step in the right direction.

I really have no idea how this will affect anything over there. What I do know is - is that the customer service/support is PATHETIC over at Malta. You're right - they don't have the decency to follow up on the Interwetten issue. Regardless whether or not the LGA sides with the casino, they need to remain in contact with the complaining players. It's not like they are overwhelmed with work.

It's a really bad sign when a licensing entity tosses its responsibility of PROTECTING PLAYERS to the wind. Casinos are supposed to be licensed so that players know that it has been properly vetted.

Looks like this is another tax haven, not a licensing jurisdiction.

Get with it LGA - I'd be mighty embarrassed if I were you.

Thanks Bryan, and I totally agree.

After they have had sufficient time to re-organize and name a new permanent director..if there is still no movement on this particular issue...do you think that you may issue a warning re: casinos licensed in Malta? I mean, is that something you might look at? And would it do any good anyway?

    I agree to Pinababy69

Casinomeister should make ranking of gambling jurisdiction, focused on player protection! The bad one should be also shown, so that players can avoid casinos licensed there.
