You could always get one of the fake licenses from the Costa Rican authorities, not that it really means a hill of beans though, so in that respect I would say no...no license needed...

When I was new to this I actually thought about this. In fact, after I made my first deposit at an online casino, I checked it out a bit further (of course after the fact like all newbies do). I found it was located outside the US. I thought I would look around for a US based online casino. So I searched high and low. Ok, don't laugh! You can guess the results. I couldn't find a single online casino located in the USA. The typical online VEGAS xxxx Casino was misleading.

Still being new and having learned more after some months, I thought maybe we could get a casino going, right?

Your question is very valid Hokuspratelll. Besides the liscensing issues, did you know that it would cost multi-millions to purchase an online Microgaming Casino with all games and software and payment processeors included? RTG is a little less. You need staff and tracking and customer service and and...etc.

There is other software you can buy for various gaming softwares but the old saying 'you get what you pay for' holds true.

starting your own casino surely takes much more than having software, payment solutions and a license. think of the staff, hardware, support, big time capital to cover cash outs, etc. you'd need

In other words a white label? There is a whole 'nother group of problems with that. However, I like your style not spamming.

There is more to owning a casino as the folks here could tell you. Let's see, liscense, cust. service, software, hardware, processors, accountants, games verification, affilate managers, incentives and payouts. What am I forgetting?

I am a total newbe to the online gaming business. But as i can see so far and if i am right, there are only five or six big online gaming companies, correct? And those people have sites under a dozen of different names... Or not? and if so, i am wondering, why can't i run a casino under such a name with their software?

Also, i found this: hp://www.wsr-corporation.com/en/index.html. Probably there are laywers who can fix for ya the paperwork that comes with starting your own virtual casino.

But maybe an affliate is more easie to start with...

Heck, just buy the software from RTG, and use the same business model as Virtual. Other than the software licensing fees, you could have your own casino up and running with a few hundred bucks.
