    Calvin Ayre

Long and in my opinion very interesting article on Calvin Ayre in latest addition of Fast Company magazine:

    http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/...tml?page=0%2C0

    Example:

"Last year, the company claims, Bodog processed $12 billion in wagers and drew revenue of $320 million. Forty percent of the business was casino games; 30% poker; 20% sports betting; and 10% the various entertainment properties. As of March of this year, a company rep told me, Bodog employed several hundred people, including 15 bookmakers, at its Antigua headquarters (where it relocated in 2006), plus a few dozen in the U.K. and between 100 and 300 in Vancouver. The Ayre I met in Macau was feeling bullish. "I sell to people like me, who like what I like," he told me. "If I like it, there's a whole bunch of other people out there who like it too."

I was there in Macau and met him and his entourage, in fact he even invited me to that party they had up in Club Cubic. Didn't make it though - I figured I'd just get myself in trouble.

He's a funny guy. And it's true. He cracks up at his own jokes (as I do by the way - I'm funny too ). But he's adamant he hasn't done anything wrong. We had dinner together last year in Barcelona, and I asked him about flying to the States - he said he's been there a couple of times since the new US laws - no problem.

This industry is a small one - it'll be interesting to see when and where he'll pop up next.

I recollect you posted this before but I read to the contrary on or about the same time of your original post. Maybe, it was in some of the motions I read awhile ago or reports pursuant to his possible required appearance in Las Vegas for a hearing in the patent case. I do not remember the direct source and wish I had the time to find it. I do remember the implications that he had not been in the States prior with a specific reference to his stomping ground of Vegas and the assumed possible consequences if required by the Court to enter the States. I will take the time to search Norm's columns in the Las Vegas Review Journal to see if their is any mention of Calvin being spotted in Vegas where he was never known for maintaining a low profile....Maybe he came in drag,lol!!....FTR, I only had time to read the first 2 pages of the current article!

It was last October, and we were just chit chatting about whatever. I asked him if he was ever afraid to go back to the States. He more or less scoffed and said he's already been back a couple of times, so he wasn't worried about it. That's about how far that subject went.
