cheekymonkey (30th January 2007)
I read it.
Seems placing the casino in the POOREST area of Manchester was better than Blackpool or the Dome, as it's location puts it in easy reach of 3 Million potential gamblers.
Surely, it would have been better to place it where it was easily accessed by a lot of RICH people![]()
Manchester needs to ensure the motorway network goes straight to it, and easily - I can't imagine high rollers wanting to drive through deprived parts of Manchester in their BMW's and Rollers to get there, let alone PARK!
Empty Fruities Astern Capt'n
Back to port for unloading.
Full Sails - before we get raided ourselves.
It's all very exciting isn't it.
Originally, one of the options was going to be the Wembley Stadium complex. I am a bit gutted as I am a stones throw from there - oh well.
Never been to Manchester in my life, but I have probably have a reason to now!
Any idea how long it will take to build and be up and running?
Name and number! 4737 Carling Sir.
This is *fantastic* news...
Manchester have always done things better than anywhere else... Football, Music... Now casino's!
East Manchester in January, right next to the City ground, on the outskirts of Openshaw and Beswick (think "Shameless") - it'll be just like Vegas![]()

Yeah 1-0 and 2-1 says he's right
Blackpool are (should be!) gutted and are talking about fighting it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/l...re/6312949.stm. Sensible as it will pretty much guarantee them a future one as you suggest. Only a question of time.
