EU Court To Determine Fate Of Gaming Companies
In the next few months the European Court of Justice shall rule on whether EU member states can outlaw online betting companies that are licensed in other EU member states. In May of this year, the Court's Advocate General proposed to not allow member states outlawing such companies. This will be a landmark case indeed, as it will determine the direction of many well established Euro targeted online sports books and internet casinos.
In an interview with Austrian newspaper Der Standard, Bwin Chief Executive Norbert Teufelberger said that his company's business model would become "obsolete" if the Court of Justice ruled against online gaming companies.
